Ordered wrong tariff

in Mobiles
Just ordered the new Xperia Z from buymobilephones. Placed the order last night and after much mulling over today, decided I'd better go on The One Plan, instead of Ultimate Internet, so I could tether officially with a view to maybe getting rid of home broadband if it's proves to be good enough.
As luck would have it as soon as I fired off the email, I got one in my inbox saying my order had been processed and shipped. I've tried to contact Three via Twitter to ask if I could change tariffs but I've had no luck and I can't phone them because I don't have a mobile number yet. On the Three website though it states;
That doesn't make much sense to me but on the face of it, it doesn't look likely, but given that I won't have even put the sim card in the phone and activated it, will that give me any more leverage over Three to let me change contract?
Fortunately I've got 7 days to return to the phone to buymobiles if Three don't let me but that's a bit of a drawn out process considering I'd just be buying the same mobile again.
Hope someone can help or has been in the same position?
Thanks

If you’re on an Ultimate Internet Plan, you can move to an Ultimate Internet Plan of higher value.
If you want to move to The One Plan, or you’re on a SIM plan or an older plan and you want to move to an Essential or Ultimate Internet Plan, you can only do this with an upgrade when you’re eligible for one.

Usually it's easier to cancel and order again.
Otherwise the mess you can get into is unpredictable.0
