I was told recently that it may be possible to get reduced water rates if you have a diagnosed bowel complaint, ie IBS - does anyone know if this is true and if so, how to go about it please?
Thanks, PR75

Look on your water companies website, depends which company you are with, as well as having a bowel condition which means you use more water, (a doctor would need to sign a form to confirm) you usually need to be in receipt of a means tested benefit.
The criteria may change from company to company but that is the jist, give them a call and ask!DFD 1st January 2016

If by 'water rates' you mean that you are on RV billing, then you won''t get any reduction, as you don''t get billed for the extra water you may be using as a result of your medical condition anyway. You need to be on a meter.
Watersure is what you are looking for.
 From the main MSE board:
If you have a water meter and someone in your household receives certain benefits, it may be possible to get the amount you pay capped. You also need to have either have three or more children under 19 in full-time education, or someone in your household to have a medical condition that means they use extra water.
If you're accepted, your costs will be limited to the average household bill for your water company, however much water you use. Average savings can be around £250/year. To sign up, contact your supplier for an application form or find out more on Ofwat's WaterSure page.
