self select isas

hello everyone,

i am looking to invest in a self select stocks and shares isa but am quite confused as to which online broker is the best one with the cheapest charges. i am looking for long term, say 3, 5 or 10 years. initially starting off with a lump sum of 1000 and then 500 pm. what would be best to hold in it such as individual shares, etf's and funds? and i feel that i may be a regular investor such as 3 to 5 stocks per month. say for example i invest in xyz company as part of my my isa at 10p a share and they rise to £1 a share within a year, can i sell them and keep the cash within the isa and reinvest elsewhere. i ask this because i am unsure as to whether you lose your tax free allowance. i would not want to see the price come back down to 10p after making a profit without being able to cash out.

can anyone help a silly fart like myself with some tips.

cheers
