Hi guys, I came across this as wanted to see whether to get a 3G + Wifi tablet. I have been with VM Unlimited for about 6 mths - just tried tethering, all fine maybe a bit slow..so why are some of you saying it's not possible on Unlimited?

It will work till they notice (low usage will probably not be noticed all that quickly). Once they notice, expect to have your Internet speed throttled to a dribble.

Use Poot Debug (from Google Play store) and Ministro2 , to ROOT your phone.

Then download the app: BARNACLE (if you do not know how to configure it, go to the app's website after installing it)

the Other app is PdaNet. It does NOT require rooting.
but it is only a trial version and the upgrade is $8. One time fee.

While either solution will work, they can detect tethering by many ways, not just what app connects.

It's also worth bearing in mind rooting will void your warranty, and the detection and throttling is done network side, so even after rooting the phone it can still be detected.
