But I am above average height, but cant see the end of the bonnet in two of the most popular cars sold in the UK . By your reasoning , the vast majority of buyers of popular fords should not drive these cars.
post #4I don't hink a car exists that you can really see the ends of. .0 -

Seat cushion, your living room throw pillow. Anything! Even your bedroom pillow and bobs your parents' brother.
Can't believe it took so long to suggest this.
Sorry but even with your head touching the roof you won't see the ends of a Fabia! This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -

Either get parking sensors fitted or get a dual reversing camera one camera at the front bumper one at the rear.0

I don't understand these posts about the drivers height?!?! I'm only 5'6" and I can drive a coach... Can't see the back end of that but can still reverse park!! It's about knowing the size of your vehicle!
A good piece of advice I was given when I passed my PCV, (which I've applied to any size vehicle I drive) is... If in doubt, STOP!
OP, just take your time. With plenty of practice you'll get there!0 -
Cars changed from the standard 3 box design to cab forward monocoques. It is rare to get a car nowadays with visible ends although some designs have raised wings or bumps on the lights.
Part of the reason is enveloping the driver to create a crash survival cell.
Solutions would be parking sensors or cameras or even just get a big cardboard box/mattress/foam and practice and learn the perception of distance. Whenever I buy a new car with or without parking sensors I park up, get out and look at the distance away from an obstacle. Once I've done this a few times I learn the distances of the bumpers and the sensitivity of the parking sensors.
Unfortunately it is mainly women who think that they should be able to see the ends of a car and sit comically stupidly close to the steering wheel. There is a balance between being too upright and too reclined. These drivers create problems in that they have no room to rapidly steer in the event of an emergency and when the airbags are deployed they risk breaking hands/arms/wrists and lessening the effectiveness of airbags. The man without a signature.0
