So, the day is finally here - those of us on O2 can now get phonecalls and texts routed across their wifi - great when your phone signal is poor
You need to be an O2 pay monthly customer (no PAYG or business)
Available now on the Google play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=es.tid.gconnect&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImVzLnRpZC5nY29ubmVjdCJd
Also, on the iOS app store for iPhone and iPad
I've found it ok (on Android, Samsung S3).. a bit temperamental, but it did stay stable on a 50 minute call last night.

that's interesting.
Assuming wi.fi calls will be free or minimal cost ?
And calls whilst abroad ?0 -

I'm using it this morning and it is very odd to be able to walk round the house on a call, without the call dropping
Their app is a little bit rubbish. You need to use their dialer software if you want to make 'wifi calls' - it's not fully integrated into your phone. Incoming calls pop up their app too
I'll install it on my wife's iphone 4 and see how it looks on iOS0 -
doesnt it drain yor batter y though having wifi on all the timeWhat goes around-comes around0

After a day of using it on my Samsung Galaxy S3, i've decided to try it out on the iPad. It seems far more stable - the app hasn't crashed yet (it crashes all the time on my S3). and the calls are of a decent quality.
Very odd using an iPad to make a 'regular' phone call, but if it works, I'm happy. I've plug a novelty 'retro' handset in, but it seems better quality to just use the inbuilt mic and speakers.
I thought I should probably link to the official O2 page, since it's now up and running - http://www.o2.co.uk/tugo/want-it0 -
Years behind Orange SignalBoost...however it's needed since Telefonica bought o2 its network is falling to bits and 50billion euros in debt, Tu Go just saves o2 money on backhaul.
Broadband sold to Sky..
O2 is but a cash cow to Telefonica, as is EE to Deutche & France Telecom.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
My Russian prepaid SIM card has had a similar app for years, yet the UK networks are only catching up in 2013. This created the anomaly where on the Tube I can make and receive calls via Virgin Media wifi on my Russian number but not on my UK number.0

It's very odd when you receive a phone call and simultaneously your phone, ipad and PC all ring.. I imagine a web-based app one day would be possible.
It's free and no other mobile network does it in the UK.. UMA is hardware dependant, and that was it's downfall.0 -
UMA is superior quality though, my BlackBerry Pearl 3G might be afewyears old but the SignalBoost app Orange have for Android sucks in comparison.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies...
