Seems to be a permanent state for savers! :o

    Hear Hear!!
I decided in early 2011 that I was going to buy my first house from the open market with a £20k Deposit, on my own.
I have banked about £10k in about 18-20 months, to do this I used every year's ISA ideally opening the account with the full amount (as soon as I could anyway), pointless otherwise as you cant get the best of the interest rate, I then found and used the maximum monthly deposit amount on regular saver account with Barclays - Monthly Saver, Northern Rock (now Virgin Money), First Direct's 8% Regular Saver account from Oct 2012 (requires you to have their current account & pay £1,500+ p/m, offers £100 to switch AND [QUOTE=CUSTOMER SERVICE FEEDBACK
In our February 2013 poll of the top banks, First Direct again came top for customer service, with a huge 91% of in-credit customers saying they received great service[/QUOTE] ) so on and so forth, you just need to look around and maximise deposits into highest paying accounts......
The interest is irrelevant until you have substantial money which you wont get if your not saving everything you can no matter what the rate (its just a bonus) It's not rocket science....:T

I'm pretty sure my daughter will need a house deposit some time in the next 5-10 years.

Her savings are in NS&I linkers, Santander (FHS) First Home Saver (3%), and (gasp!) some bank preference shares plus far too much in technology shares. Her father (guilty as charged!) handles the shares.

I'm moving the FHS into Cash ISAs as and when, and selling down the tech shares as fast as CGT allows. The prefs are keepers at around 10% pa on what she paid for them.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.
