All this will do is create more fodder for the loanshark, the provvi, and the likes of Wonga.
Wait until the horror stories are reported in the press.~~~~~~~~~~~~Halifax, taking the Xtra since 1853:rolleyes:~~~~~~~~~~~~0 -
And they'll differ because the local arrangements could be anything from the local council, to organisations and charities who've been invited to tender to run these arrangements.
Severely disabled young adult needed £2000 spent on adaptations in his home. The local authority refused.
This meant his parents could no longer cope and he was placed into a home.
The cost of the home is £6000 per month and the local authority willingly pays it!
The real cost apart from to the taxpayer is, is this young adult has been forced away from his family and home.
I really would like to know what the hell is going on this country, but I guess I need to stand in line behind millions of others.~~~~~~~~~~~~Halifax, taking the Xtra since 1853:rolleyes:~~~~~~~~~~~~0 -
If welfare payments are an ''extravagance'' then ''surviving on the absolute basics'' is an extravagance
There are MANY people in this country now struggling to eat and keep warm , let alone have washing machines etc
We are going back to the days when a fridge etc is a LUXURY even if you have to keep your medicine in it!
All compassion has gone now and its sh** on the underdog because the state of the country is their fault , its like they CHOOSE to be ill? CHOOSE to be disabled? CHOOSE to genuinely need extra support and care which is no longer there! :-( :-( :-(
This country is going to the dogs under this government if you ask me and there is no way out for the poor , just more and more struggling unfortunately when how FAR can you stretch the 'pot' when there is not enough food in the house? ( I know this is not relevant to community care grants themselves , but just this whole ''welfare reform'' is so heartless and is penalising those already suffering & struggling as it is! )
''Make life harder for the poor because they haven't got enough stress and anxiety on their hands already with their day to day lives'' :-( x0 -

I used to think the UK was a land of freedom , but now the only thing you are free to do is BREATHE , just about! :question:0

Yes it's fair enough to say 'don't trust ANY of them' BUT WHO are the ones with all the MONEY??? .... Have ANY of the Conservative MP's ( maybe a few? ) actually sat at home WORRYING that their electricity is going to run out by the end of the day with no money to put on their key????????
NO , they are sitting there wondering whether to have TRUFFLE OIL ON THEIR QUAIL EGGS!!!
At least MANY of the Labour MP's and local MP's have been brought up in families who have known what it is like to struggle even if they are not struggling NOW
The only way it seems to have compassion on others is to suffer yourself - If ''me and mine'' were fine and not just set for life but generations to come I'd probably be sitting there pondering whether or not to have truffle oil on my quail eggs and not give a hoot about others , so it takes more people who have ''BEEN THROUGH IT'' or have known family members who were or are still 'in it' ie poverty , hardship or need! x0 -
It feels to me like the goverment & the rich are scared that the 'poor' are going to ROB them / their future generations of their 'rightful inheritance' so are doing what they can to actually wipe them out!0

Maybe if they listened to the people there would be some hope of change!

I think you must be thinking of local councillors, or the Labour Party of the 1920's who actually cared about the British?~~~~~~~~~~~~Halifax, taking the Xtra since 1853:rolleyes:~~~~~~~~~~~~0 -
I think I was thinking of the local councilors or those who had a BACKGROUND that wasn't privileged
When I was growing up the Labour party stood for the common working people as it were , but many in my community could relate to that so they always got our vote!
Now things have changed that the only thing which matters is MONEY not people , but I wonder if those who didn't originally come from a privileged background remember what it was like to struggle .... Or have I been watching too much of 'The Secret Millionaire'?lol
