I wish to raise a very serious complaint

Yesterday I went to the Crawley store (previously known as Dixons) to purchase an Archos 504 PVR. I have a number of issues.

1. Firstly - i asked if the item was new explaining that i did not want an ex-display model - I was told that it was brand new and had just come out of the 'cage' which meant it was new. He also said 'its the last one in stock'. I explained that i wanted to record from the TV and was not told that I needed an extra part to make this happen. Although i was offered this part (the DVR station) as part of a 'bundle' but it was not explained properly to me.

I returned to my office and opened the box (not sealed) - and realised that most of the items supposed to be packaged with it were missing: namely the connection lead for the pc (which is also the charger!), the headphones and the leather case.

I called your customer service line and was told that there were three in stock (spot lie number one) - that it should have been sealed, and that i should go back and change it.

I asked my colleague to go and change it for me as i was unable to leave the office as this time. She came back with a cellophane wrapped one (plus the extra part purchased under the bundle deal)

I an absolutely disgusted with this attempted fraud. I require you to refund the £50 for the extra accessory i had to buy as compensation, or i will report you to trading standards and BBC watchdog.

I expect a reply within 14 days of this email being sent

And still nothing ..…..

Thanks

You have not even had the courtesy to acknowledge receipt of this email complaint.

Many thanks

Sorry, but when your colleague returned from Currys, didn't they bring back the items that were missing originally? As the box was already opened, didn't you check the contents beofre leaving the store?
You've given Currys 14 days to reply, starting from the 2nd May - today is only the 8th May. You also threatened to report them to BBC Watchdog if they don't reply in the 14 days, but have copied Watchdog on the email - so you have already reported them to Watchdog.

I think thats slightly over the top!

I don't think threats of Watchdog and Trading Standards which arn't really relevant at this point because you haven't even given them a chance to do anything isn't helping. The subject line is way over the top to the ponts that it's comicable.

"spot lie number one" Perhaps they've had 2 more delivered since then or there is a system fault. Your accusing someone of lieing who probably hasn't lied at all. It might annoy you but you dion't know it's a lie. I don't consider this an "attempted fraud" a c0ck up maybe yes. Also they've not even had a full working day yet to do anything but you sent your next email.

Do you actually need the accessory? If so, I don't see why they should refund it as compensation. Also, you will find they will not offer you compensation - if anything, it will be a goodwill gesture.

ouch. No wonder they appear to be ignoring the OP....

Although the thought of being reported to watchdog and finding myself confronted with the fashion disaster that is Julia Bradbury would leave me quaking somewhat!! :)
