    I'll be on here later when I'm at home and I can check out all the different options in WMP.
    Watch this space ........ please?

    WMP11 is pretty naff to be honest with you I would roll back to version 10 or 9 depending what you had previously if you go back to 9 and dowload version 10 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/10/default.aspx

    Hi guys

    I'm at home now and at my computer.
    Just changed the IMAPI setting to Automatic but still having problems burning in Windows. Haven't restarted as yet.

    In WMP under Tool/Option/Devices I have CD Drive (D:), Display and Speakers.

    If I click on CD-Drive and select Properties, I get
    Playback: Digital (selected), Analogue and Use error correction (which is a tick-box and blank)
    I also get Rip: Digital (selected), Analogue (greyed out) and Use error correction (which is a tick-box and blank).

    Do I need to restart my machine to make the original change take effect?

    ::edit::

    Just done a restart and although the IMAPI is now running (checked under MSCONFIG), still can't burn with WMP.

    Try changing the value in the registry from 1 to 2 if its 1 as 1 is CD-rom and 2 is CD-R but then gain if you can burn with nero then you may not need to touch this, worth a shot anyway

    Thanks Asus

    Just tried that but it didn't do anything, so I've put the registry value back to 1.

    BTW - did I have to do a restart to make the changes take effect?

    Ah ha thats a problem right there you just said you will put it back to one, well its meant to be value 2 for recording so go back in and change to 2 and then log off then back on, now if it reverts back to one try this.

    Start, Run (then type) devmgmt.msc and hit enter then expand CD/DVD drives and then right click your drive then click on Uninstall and agree to the prompt that appears so that you do uninstall your drive, then close all open windows then restart your PC and the drive will be picked up again and that should solve the value problem and any other problems of the drive being missed by windows.

    Oh yeah this wont do any harm to the PC but be careful in the registry.

    OK - hang on.
    Back in a mo .......

    ::edit 1::
    Changing the registry didn't do anything.
    Off to try second bit.

    ::edit 2::
    Just tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drive via a reboot and, unfortunately, still nothing.
    I think this may be the time to say a big Thankyou to everyone and resign myself to never burning CD's with WMP again.

    BTW, just checked the registry and the value is now 3.

    Dont forget to have a look at the file associations from WMP.

    Tools, Options, File Types, and check all/select all and click OK.

    Read the thread I linked to, many people resolved it by rolling back to WMP10

    Just hit select all (there were only a few gaps) and restarted WMP. Still no change.

    I think I've wasted enough of everybody's time on this one so I'll leave it there.

    Thanks again.
