Compensation from Thomas Cook

Dear MSE,
Thanks to your template and clear guidance we have finally received compensation for the 6 hour delay (Glasgow - Antalya) in November 2012. After 2 letters from Thomas Cook saying the delay was exceptional and did not merit compensation, we used the 2nd template to call in the CAA cavalry. T. Cook then tried to fob us off with a voucher but a final call to them re EU guidelines stating cash settlement we got our £715 compensation.
So grateful thanks to MSE and CAA and proof that perseverance pays off!

I am in a similar position, in that on the 19th Feb this year Thomas Cook offered me a voucher for £1795 against a future booking. This was for a 21 hour delay back in 2010, a party of 5 to Cyprus. I have written back requesting this be provided as a cheque, not a voucher. So willl see what happens. The voucher seems to be standard procedure to minimise costs. However to get to this far has taken countless phone calls, emails, and letters, and it only seems since I involved the CAA and they contacted Thomas Cook, did things start moving.:cool:0

Can I ask how long it took for them to get back to you! I have started the ball rolling with my claim.0

Ok, emailed and sent the written letter to Thomas Cook back at the beginning of december last year. Got an email back from the CAA about two weeks later. I then sent the CAA copies of all correspondance between myself and Thomas Cook. I also advised Thomas Cook of this. On the 19th Feb this year I receved a letter and an 'offer' of a voucher against a future booking. I wrote back requesting this as a cheque, and about 10 days later I recieved a cheque for £1795!!! Result! Having spoken to the CAA, what seems to have got things moving, was when they requested details about the circumstances of my 21 hour delay from Thomas Cook. So Good luck....0
