As far as I (anyone?) am concerned, her 'right' to use my name ceased on remarriage - perfectly reasonable.

You might think so but that's only your thoughts, which don't actually count.

When she remarried, all it did was give her the choice....keep using the same name (legally) or change it. She made her choice.

    No, not perfectly reasonable really.

You didn't give her your name in the first place by marrying her, she could have used even if you weren't married if she so chose, so you do not have the right to take it back or stop her using it.

So, what do you want a copy of the marriage certificate for?

Gosh! Why are you mostly telling the OP off?
You are all correct though, those that say to keep the same name as the children, what if you only have females and they go on to marry?

Firstly, the OP isn't being told off, he's being educated. :D

Secondly, when marriage comes into the equation, the child will clearly no longer be a child and therefore it wont matter a jot any longer. :D

YOU do not need a copy of her marriage certificate. It's none of your business and I would be careful of accusing her of dodgy dealings too....

Why don't you move on she has. You are in the wrong assuming she can't use the name that is legally hers now! FACT!

Can I get hold of a copy of the marriage cert ?

Yes. Use the government site - it's cheaper than the companies who offer the same service - https://www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-death-marriage-certificate
