Why not get an Aqua Reward for the 'free' £100 cashback per annum?

I went through a stage where I had 4 but really didn't need or want them so closed them.
I am guessing you have got a decent balance on both cards? I would also be happy with just 2 - 3 cards and i'm guessing most people would also.
In my case, I have 5 credit cards with small limits between them.
Vanquis - 500
Barclaycard 400, increasing to 800 in march
Capital One securecard 200
Lloyds TSB - 500
Nationwide - 2400
I only use my cards for big purchases, and use my debit card for small item purchases.
Ideally, I could close vanquis and cap1 now, but wanted to have it open for at least 2 years before closing them down, never good idea closing them down until at least 18 months of payment history has been made in my opinion and in the case of someone with a thin credit history such as myself.
This time next year, leaves me with 3. Ideally, I would love to possibly, upgrade from barclaycard to their lower rate card, and so with nationwide and Lloyds, with a bigger limit.
I just prefer to have credit cards with a decent limit, these under E1000 limit cards are just not practical enough for me. Will be using my NW for my car insurance renewal this year.£1600 saved in bank, target 20K by 1st march 2014.

I applied for tesco cc, just before sainsburys. Declined
How many days between these two applications? If it's less than 7 days you may get automatically rejected.
For the future, when you make a successful application you should wait until the new card shows on your credit file before applying for the next card. Then the new lenders will see that you applied for a card and got accepted for it. There's no way of them knowing from the search footprint alone.0 -

My balances are combined around £400 at the moment with around 9.8k available which compared to many posters on here is not much but as I mentioned me getting another credit card would be pointless.0 -

It was only half and hour between each application.
I thought if your to apply for products, being if accepted or not, if you want to apply for for something else, it's best to do it the same time after you've made other application, because lenders don't usually see what you've applied for until the following day?
Someone told me when you do a credit search, it should show up instantly on your CF, but not in my case, usually a day, after or a few days.
I guess for someone like me anyway with a thin file, it's stupid to do such a thing because 99.9 percent it will always go through to the referred process or the straight out decline, which means the underwriters will see exactly what's been applied for the following day/whenever they look at the application.£1600 saved in bank, target 20K by 1st march 2014.

No....you are wrong....the 7 days theory is non sense.
And it is best to apply for a card before the new one shows up on report....0 -

Don't follow ^this^ advice, a new account appearing on your file will hit your credit record more than having just the search - if you want to apply for two cards, best to do the second before the first's open account appears on your file.
Plenty of valid reasons for doing so too I guess, such as wanting one card for a balance transfer and a separate one for cashback.0 -
You are so right. I've got 5 already at the age of 19! So yeah, I think I need to slow down a bit. Closing down 2 - 3 next year anyway, so I can just get a decent card with a decent limit.
Ideally, I just want 2 - 3 credit cards.
Only 1 is needed, why not close some down this year ?0 -

Your probably think I'm stupid, but my credit file is not very chunky, the more repayment history I can show, the better it will be in the future for me in terms of getting the best deals, and the lowest possible rate. My file is just two thin.
This time next year will be perfect.
I'm not going to even bother applying until next year, when I close down the accounts and it shows as satisfied.£1600 saved in bank, target 20K by 1st march 2014.
