I applied for a sainsburys credit card and got this message at the end:
MR XXXX
Thank you for your application for a Sainsbury's Bank Credit Card, which is now being processed.
That's all it said. No reference number. I guess it's going to the underwriters?

Thanks for your 'constructive' input.
The reason why I have made another application is because I do not want to apply for NOTHING else until this time exactly next year so because I've made a few searches here and then. It makes sense doing a search for one or two more credit products for this year, so if I get accepted, if yes, great, if not, oh well, not the end of the world...
I won't be making anymore applications, this year, until ALL my searches next year drop off completely. This time next year, my credit report should be even a better state that how it is.
The only issue with my report, 5/6 searches within last 12 months, no satisfied account, a just a year's and a bit of credit history reporting.
Oh, I applied for tesco cc, just before sainsburys. Declined..
SERIOUSLY THOUGH, NO MORE SEARCHES!!!£1600 saved in bank, target 20K by 1st march 2014.

Instead of firing applications to the likes of sainsburys where you've no chance and with all your applications lately why not wait for your Nationwide card and build up a credit history with them.0 -
It's not a question of "how many cards should I get to improve my credit report"....start by demonstrating that you can manage & repay on time just 1 credit card....that's enough....they just see you as credit hungry for someone with no decent previous credit history....Alarm bells are starting to ring with those lenders.....0

I just phoned up, said there is no application for me at all. Maybe a blessing in disguise. I work for them and gave them my employee number on application, could of gone to different department perhaps.
Anyway, won't be applying again.£1600 saved in bank, target 20K by 1st march 2014.

You are so right. I've got 5 already at the age of 19! So yeah, I think I need to slow down a bit. Closing down 2 - 3 next year anyway, so I can just get a decent card with a decent limit.
Ideally, I just want 2 - 3 credit cards.£1600 saved in bank, target 20K by 1st march 2014.

I'm pretty sure I could get more credit cards if I really wanted them but I am happy with just two nationwide & barclaycard.
I went through a stage where I had 4 but really didn't need or want them so closed them.0 -
Why not get an Aqua Reward for the 'free' £100 cashback per annum?BugsyBrowne wrote: »... I am happy with just two nationwide & barclaycard.
