The question to ask is how much paid to this company, and how much money was recovered in parking charges through them. And many cases went to court and how much money was paid through the courts. And finally how many judgements were made against motorists

I have it somewhere but cant find it at the mo, a little under £5000 was recovered.
The charge is £50 most people pay up when the solicitors letter arrives, those that don't and go to court it is for £50 plus costs.

I seem to remember Aintree quoting for the same time period 369 cases had been passed to Trethowens. Even if they all paid £50 that is £18.5K not a good return for £116K

I will try and find the details.

So in other words they've lost almost £100k in the best case scenario, and over £110k in a worst case. It's gobsmacking honestly that tax payers money is being squandered in such a way.

Brought this to the attention of the local paper and radio they were not interested.

How many operations would that pay for??

I'd send it to the Minister for Health instead.

Watchdog may go for it. This outlay is just about maintaining the myth that their invoices are enforceable. Its about time the myth was shattered.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

The other myth is that the hospital trusts benefit from the money collected from car park charges. In fact many of them (and I did see a list somewhere), allow their PPC to keep this.
This just is not right, most people think the money goes towards the hospital costs.

Even if the hospital kept all the money from the parking charges I can't see it topping over a £100k a year, so running at a loss IMO

Conquest makes almost £900,000 in parking charges in last two years

    Published on Thursday 13 August 2009 15:21

The Conquest Hospital has raked in almost £900,000 through charging patients to park over the last two years.
The hospital on The Ridge made 390,000 over 12 months from April 2006 and a further 505,000 between April 2007 to the end of March last year.
The figures were revealed in a Freedom of Information request made by Norman Baker, the LibDem MP for Lewes, who discovered the main hospitals in East Sussex had made almost 2.5million in parking charges over two years.
He branded the fees a 'tax on those supporting the sick'.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Is this the same Norman Baker - Apologist For The BPA (to give him his full title) - complaining about the level of PPC charges in a local hospital??!!
