i ordered a 'solid pine bed' from amazon 2 days ago. it arrived this morning and i assembled it-it took ages as the 'instructions' didnt contain any helpful information-but i figured it out eventually. i am gutted cause its weak and flimsy-it cost £80 so i was expecting much better quality. it has a 'strong centre rail'-but the rail is 3 inches too short for the bed! so the slats are sagging ALOT when leaned on, so i dare not lay on it! i have messaged the seller telling him all of this-he hasnt responded yet-im just wondering-do i have rights to a refund? it was slightly misrepresented as its not strong or sturdy, the instructions were useless and the centre rail will not fit at all. but i have assembled it, so i guess it is now 'used'. any help please! thanks!

Sorry but where do you get the idea that for £80 you are going to get quality.
Did you do any research on the cost of pine beds. The decent quality are 3 times this much at least.
For £80 you are going to get crap.
If it isnt of merchantable quality you certainly are entitled but come back when you have had an answer to your email.
Do you have a link to where you bought it from. I presume it was a business that you bought it from.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Did the listing actually say the bed was sturdy etc?
While you should be able to cancel under DSRs for a full refund of all monies paid, you may be responsible for the return delivery charges depending if you were informed of this prior to the contract conclusion.
DSRs you have a minimum of 7 working days (starting day after delivery) to inform the seller of your intent to cancel in a durable form (ie letter, email, fax).
You could perhaps also use the satisfactory quality element of SoGA but only if they have said the bed is sturdy/quality etc because as mckneff says.....£80 is cheap and I suspect most people wouldnt expect quality from £80 pine bed.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I doubt you could buy enough pine to make a bed for £80! Let alone the cost of designing and cutting to size etc.
I'd expect an £80 pine bed to be utter gubbins (as you have found out).
You should be able to get a refund under DSRs or SOGA. Have a look at the FAQ at the top of the forum listings for info.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
£80!
How much did you expect to pay for a "decent" mattress then? A tenner?0 -
Just pack it up and send it back under DSR, this is what DSR is for, inspecting it in your own home. You may have to pay to return it.
DSR allows for assembled goods to be returned, the problem is getting the seller to agree.0 -
£80 for a bed - solid - good quality, I doubt it very much.
What were other reviews on this bed if any?
Did you search the net for reviews?
If the rail is as you say not long enough then the goods are not fit for use (sorry are you 100% sure you have put it together right?), then you are within your rights to get a refund.
Is the seller a business, can you contact them via a site rather than Amazon, do they have a contact number? If not do the contact us customer service on Amazon where they ring you back straight away (if you can with a 3rd party seller), if you get no joy then do an A-Z claim via Amazon.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
Going by the description given by the OP, this appears to be the bed in question.

Yes I thought that one and sorry it does look what it is a cheap soft pine bed, more suitable to a guest bed at best I think.

All our products come with a standard 12 month warranty. This does not mean they will only last 12 months, this means if there is a fault in the material it will manifest itself within that time. Like all furniture it will last as long as its looked after.
On all beds it is the base slats that do all the hard work. These are covered by our standard 12 month warranty.

Yes you can send back furniture under the DSR that you have "built", but it must remain in "good" condition.
You'll have to pack it really really well so the bits don't bash into each other and get damaged during transport. Plus you'll have to pay to send it back.
Might not be worth it, sell it 2nd hand and put it down to experience.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
