Yay first day of March! Going to try and find £10 a day rather than thinking oh I've got ebay stuff finishing in a few days so hopefully that will increase total a bit! I can now list more items on the bay so think I might put my buy to sell stuff on buy it now with the option to accept offers. If I put on at 3-4 times the price I paid I might get an offer for double but will still be happy! Need to start a folder with records for the tax man though. Just looked at completed listings for shoes and can see its either hit or miss! Thinking of adding a mound of shoes to my 100 item box though fairy!£20 a day April 2014 £834.87/£600 :j

 Count me in for this months Challenge! i was a bit off in Feb, so i will try and double up this month and go for £20 a day Please Aesop
Loving the challenge ~ Good luck everyone!!
At our local carboot you'll be lucky to get your hands on a pair of shoes, there seems to be a massive trade in 2nd shoes and there is a 'gang' of african dealers who scoop up all the available shoes every week and ship them back to africa, Thats all they'll buy and they buy them by the suitcase load.
NatterJack, i agree with your caution over giving too much details about your new business venture out on these boards, i remember reading over on the ebay board how one business sellers ebay account was almost ruined after they had slipped details and they felt someone had purposely sabotaged their sales. Sometimes it's easy to forget this is an open forum that any nutter can read. Good luck with your facebook business, this is an area im also looking intoBuild your own dreams ~ or someone will hire you to help build theirs

Thanks Moneyspider
Good Luck with yours also
Just a quick question regarding the challenge. This is probably going into a bit too much depth and I may have to ask elsewhere, but things got confusing with my other business when I didn't record every minute detail from the start. So, Im including my travel costs, which to the car boot I went to last week was around £3.62 in petrol according to Google Directions. However, I've just researched and you can claim 45p a mile for business travel. So what do I add onto my cost price of the items??? Its quite a big difference from £3.62 cost to the £7.56 I can claim for tax purposes.£20 a day April 2014 £834.87/£600 :j

Im not sure what you mean by 'add to your cost price of the items' ?
If your talking about claiming your travel expense @45p per mile, i would suggest keeping your travel costs separate from other expenses, claim what is permittable, so if it works out at £7.56 claim that, also remember you can claim enterance fee's back, so if you go out buying and it's £1 entry to go looking you can claim this also.
Keep a log of travel costs per journey, you'll soon get a pattern emerging for your whereabouts and this will be pretty consistant.
travel cost @45p per mile also takes into account, wear and tear, maintance cost ect, which you can't claim separately if your vehicle is used for a multi purpose.
If you had a car/van which was used for the sole purpose of business, you could claim, M.O.T costs, servicing, maintance , repairs the whole shabang!
Hope that helpsBuild your own dreams ~ or someone will hire you to help build theirs

Hiya, i would love to join in, it will be my first challenge like this so put me in for £5 per day.
Ive had a read through and spotted the shoes in CS i went to my local CS yesterday and spotted a pair of Russel and Bromley ones that were £5 may have to pop back and see if they are still there, similar styles on their website are £195

Thanks Moneyspider. Its our family car I use so can't claim for everything. With the travel costs, for the double the money challenge I spent £5 on items to sell. Then I need to add cost of petrol on getting there and back (forgot about entrance fee!) So do I add the £3.62 or £7.56. Just need to know if Im doubling £8.62 or or £13.56, does that make more sense? Now need to add the 30p entrance on!£20 a day April 2014 £834.87/£600 :j

Ha ha...who say's tax doesn't have to be taxing!:rotfl:
I get what your trying to work out and its up to you how you want to work it for the double your money challenge.
Personally if it were me i would class the lower amount as your amount you need to double up ( your actual amount spent ) but if it was for a tax return i would claim the permitable amount ( the higher amount.
wow @ 30p enterance fee, one of our local carboot charges £1.50 entrance fee the greedy grunts :rotfl:Build your own dreams ~ or someone will hire you to help build theirs
