Does your sofa have cushions if so stick one of them where you want him or put puffy dog cushion on sofa for a while get him used to that then move his cushion where you want him.

Might be your smell or something like that he wants to be close to

I think there is a "trigger" in the 3 for £10 Head & Shoulders/Aussie offer.
