That seventy quid should last you for the next fortnight.

Hi, I also wanted to not 'read and run' as the saying goes and give you a hug xx
Please be kind to yourself, you have your husband, your beautiful children and their unconditional love. Have you seen the links at the top of this forum about debt and depression? You are so not alone.
I'm really not an expert in debt management but if you have been told bankruptcy is the way to go, I hope you can find a way to progress. A family I am very fond of took this route, they are doing ok, life goes on, they took each day as it comes for a good while. But they still have each other. I hope you can hang on to that, not everyone, me included is so fortunate as to have their loved ones still around, it hurts like hell, I really hope you don't mind me saying that, I'm trying to give you a gentle nudge to count your blessings, which I realise must seem totally bizarre but it's heartfelt. You have had such a hard time but things can improve, together you can beat this, good luck, with the £70 in mind, have you seen Approved Foods? But the food bank must be worth considering? xxxx
  • I have just signed up with cooperative energy and they told me dual fuel will be £123 per month

That still seems very high for dual fuel, I am with EDF energy and pay £60 per month. Depends on the size of the property I guess but your bill seems way to high.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

That does seem very steep then. Is it a pre-payment meter or are payments set up on direct debit?

In that case I would keep shopping around, it sounds like you are paying well over the odds.

You deffo need to get in touch with debt charities and go on the Bankruptcy board too.

£47k @ £40 per month is going to take about 4 future generations of your family to pay it off, it's not doable so you need to offload it. Don't feel guilty about this what ever you do.

You will get this sorted, my only concern is re the furniture. You will need to check what will happen with the HP goods in bankruptcy because you might have to start gathering new to you items of furniture.

  • Hi, Just wanted to offer a bit of support. I've been where you are now, please visit CAB. They helped me so much when my home was repossessed and was drowning in debt. They can help you with everything like bankruptcy, dealing with creditors, benefits, housing etc. They even came to court with me giving help and support during the repossession as I was a complete wreck.

I really don't know what I would have done without them, they lifted me out of the black hole I felt I was in.

You have a lovely little family, they are most important, you will get through this. xx
