i have recently received a parking charge notice for overstaying in morrisons car park. they sent the letter with photographic evidence of the time of arival and departure. the amount is £85 reduced to £50 if paid soon. not sure where they plucked the figure from as it was a free car park and there was no reasonable losses. im just woried because they have my name adress photographs. has anybody heard aything about it going to cort or baliffs retreiving money/ possesions. did try reasoning with morrisons store but got nowhere and where quite rude , obviosly not worried if they loose there customers. if i dont have to pay it is there any specific reason why.

Don't take Parking Eye's fake tickets seriously. They might threaten you with this and that but those threats are fake too, they designed to frighten you from your money. Safe to ignore. On the other hand write to the CEO of Morrisons complaining in polite but strongest terms about PE and how the store treated you, a customer. Tell him/her you feel like talking to the local press and contacting Watchdog etc etc. The more complaints they get the greater the chance ppc's like PE get booted off.
Lastly, spread the word.....about this site and why not to pay the ppc scammers a penny.Got a ticket from ParkingEye? Seek advice by clicking here: Private Parking forum on MoneySavingExpert.:j0 -
See my usual reply and lots of info links to understand that this is just a scam, in post #42 here:

But the thread already linked by andybrock gives you the name to complain to at Morrisons, to get the whole scam easily cancelled and to pss the CEO of Morrisons off again about Parking Eye. It's all good, the more complaints to the right person, the better (and the staff member standing at a store CS desk is NOT the right person).

They would have to sue you in court:
To do this they need evidence:
Court rules on evidence are only ANPR cameras approved by the secretary of state as a statutory instrument is admissible in any court.
Parking eyes DIY cameras and laptops are not such instruments.
Second problem is as they dont have proprietary title in the land they have no right of audience in court to sue on behalf of those that do have land title.
So they are talking tosh.
Ignore them, read READ AND READ the stickies so you know what types of letters pretending to be this that and the other and phonecalls to expect from the scammers.Be happy...;)0 -
Another point, call the council planning office and ask them to investigate the planning permission, if it was granted as a free car park to obtain a lower rateable value ask why they are charging you £85 for parking on it and demand action is taken by the council to either change the planning consent and rateable value or to stop charging for parking.Be happy...;)0

Paperchase,
The sort of people you are dealing with here are the sort that told me for my car to be waiting (ie stopped, but not parked) the wheels would have to be moving. Other than moving in space at 66,000 mph around the sun I'm not sure how that works.
Edit: Just received one from a PE infested car park at a place I am visiting on Saturday. The store manager won't be happy after I have spoken to them.0
