Have just checked the paperwork given with my PC and the numbers seem to have been included with those.
As suggested I would phone the Sony helpline or there is lots of information which can be accessed from here

trevor_john, did you buy it from JL online or instore? I contacted Sony and they are only selling laptops with Vista so wondered how you got XP?
Btw if you've managed to sort it out now, what's the keyboard like for typing for long periods? what model is it.
