sony vaio help please

I am poss missing the obvious..but here goes.

I have just bought sony laptop and all seems ok.I am though having problems with word and works etc.Its asking for licence key which is usually on cd case but with the sony there are no discs...so where is the licence key,please.

There are some numbers on the underneath of my Vaio laptop. Could the numbers you want be there?

Also, don't forget to create your back up discs as soon as possible.

Hi Libra, I tried the ones under the laptop...no good though.Are they the ones you used for yours ?

It seems the numbers underneath my laptop are my XP numbers. I can't remember any separate numbers for Word or Works. Am going to check my paperwork and if I find anything will let you know.

Will get back if I find anything.

check the micrsoft website. there is loads on there about vista problems.

sorry. what is the license key for? word or the actual windows XP OS?

Hi, you have probably already looked but when I got my last computer it had works or office pre-installed and the licence key was just on a slip of paper in with the other paperwork so maybe worth a check.

If you have just bought it from Sony, phone their customer support line and ask them for the licence number.

If you bought it privately, ask the seller.

Either way, try to get a copy of the original Office disks - you will probably need them later if you want to reinstall the software for any reason.

yeah. it is usually on a piece of cardboard with the license key stuck on and cellophane wrapped.

thanks guys.I bought it new from John Lewis but cannot find the licence key in the paperwork...best contact the store then
