HTC Salsa or Samsung duos

Options
Hi Guys. Which phone is the best. The HTC Salsa is £69 in Asda or I can get the Samsung android, dual sim for 115 euros. The HTC sounds good but I am assuming that the Samsung must be better but I don't have a clue. Any advice please.

  • Be wary of the HTC as it has one huge problem, the amount of internal memory.
The Android OS uses up most of the memory which leaves very little space for additional apps. Some apps can't be moved to the SD card which leaves you with low memory warnings on the phone.

The new breed of top flight handsets with 2gb of memory, they don't seem to state how much is user memory and how much is ram. :(

Of course they do. They state ram and internal memory and if you look at detailed specs you will see how much of the internal memory is available for apps. (You can't say how much RAM will be available as it depends what you are running)

A top flight model is likely to have 2Gb of RAM and at least 16 Gb of internal memory.

Hard to say which is the best, it depends on you. Personally i would choose Samsung, like its appearance.

Thanks for that , just at present I have the xperia ray and the specs show 1gb internal but 300mb user available, my next device xperia z as you mention shows 16gb internal 2gb ram

    comparison

Sorry to the OP for sidetracking the thread, my manager has a Galaxy duos (not sure if it's the Ace) but it looks nice and there are two signal meters etc at the top, one for each sim, both sims are in standby to recieve calls and texts, if replied to the outbound is sent via where the call/text arrived eg line 1 or 2, both lines can be labelled.

Would have to 2nd this. I would not recommend the Salsa. You can squeeze one or two apps onto it and that's it. Bit comical really as it is has a dedicated facebook button on the bottom of the phone and when you press it all you get is a memory warning message.
  • Thanks Guys. I went with the Samsung.

Have any of you 'anti-Salsa' guys actually used one?

My wife bought one from Asda late last year, I set it up for her and loaded a few relevant apps, and she's been perfectly happy with it. :)
