Paying £17.50-£18.00/month Plusnet - Any cheaper deals?

Hi,

I am coming up to the end of 12 months with Plusnet.

I pay £17.50 - £18.00 a month for broadband, line rental (paid 12 months upfront), Talk Anytime and Talk Anytime international.

Can anyone suggest any cheaper deals which may be good for me?

Thanks!

If you are happy with plusnet, talk to their retentions team and say you're looking to move due to needing to lower your monthly costs.

They've stopped the half price broadband deals atm, from what I can say, but quote places like sky for their deals, and talktalk for their new customer deals and see what they offer you. Say ideally you're looking to either get more for less, or if you are happy with the peak limits, just that you need to cut costs.

They've cut mine by doing that, and if the offer they give you is satisfactory with you, you can then do 12 months line rental again, mention that you'd do this if you can get the broadband price sorted.

word of warning though, if your plusnet is fine, you might find talktalk and/or sky to be of a worse service.

Thanks for your prompt answer Lifeforms! Do you know by chance approximately how much Talk Talk and Sky charge for an equivalent package. I've been looking on their website but they don't seem to show in a clear way the equivalent packages. eg on Talk Talk I can't even see how much the booster packages cost.

Just occurred to me, I am on T-mobile for mobile - is there a T-mobile broadband which combined with a standalone phone package could work out cheaper?

Since broadband is exchange specific, we can't tell without knowing your exchange. There is no universal 'cheapest'.
Do an exchange search on www.samknows.com for your LLU options, if any.
T-Mobile do not operate any ADSL services.

Had a quote from Sky for LLU B/Band and phone rental /calls- came to ~£22 pm after a cheap 6 month starter period, so I reckon your existing Plusnet deal will be hard to beat in the longer term; as suggested try Retentions -might give you a cheapy 12 mnth deal?

Take a tip and stick with Plusnet. I have had 5 different ISP's in the past and PN are head and shoulders above all of them. By all means search for alternatives, but that is a good deal you have now. I know of others who are on "cheap" deals and they cannot wait for contracts to end. Better the devil you know.

Do you use the website? there is a lot of support there, from the "Member Centre". If you ask a question about speeds or deals there, they will help you.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

Thats a good deal, I might look into it!. Is it unlimited broadband, and a good speed? I just got a quote from Sky: (which I posted in a different thread)
    (as a new customer)

£19.50 for Line rental with Anytime Talk.
    £10 for Broadband Unlimited.
so, £29.50/month (but 0845 no. is chargeable)

Plus: Free broadband for first 6 months, so £19.50 for 6 months and then £29.50 for 6 months (12 month contract).

I second the sticking with plusnet. Had family who were on plusnet regret moving or happy they moved to plusnet.
  • hi sasparillo,

I would recommend you that consult with "ToCashBack", as I know this is a platform of this kind of solution.
