Morning! Thank you Marmite & Freeby for your kind wishes about my GS & MIL. GS is now thankfully on the mend but still on oxygen & MIL is being assessed for an op on her arteries next week. Although they have said there is a possibility she could have a massive stroke during the op....
St Patricks Day party at Nargle's sounds like fun..... quite like a little shindig myself!
Cheryl, I keep toying with the idea of a breadmaker as we all love bread in this house. I did buy a George Foreman Grill last week and DH has cooked everything from bacon to fruit kebabs on it. (Cleaned in between :D)
Well done everyone on their NSDs so far and thank you to the updaters. I am hoping for an NSD today as I am helping out at my son's boxing club & will have no reason to buy anything.

**WARNING! Do NOT attempt to drink The Gin-less Guin-less at tonight's funk shone!!!** It's another conncoction brewed up by our intrepid Igor & it is my turn to be chief taster (my turn came round again pretty quick waiting-hand-gesture-smiley-emoticon.gif...whose in charge of the [STRIKE]idiots[/STRIKE] volunteers rosta  Pretty sure I did Beanie's nappy change time before last cuz she had to do cw18's knob-knocking when Cheryl had that trouble with the doo-dah in the dungeon, which meant SF did the sat nav & Marmite the signalling..) anyways, back to the grog. Ahmm...yes...the grog! It is black...with a creamy froth on top I'll grant...but I've used my measure to underseal the tardis where the paint chipped on our last visit to the Alps! So drink it at your peril *in an a la Ides of March tribute kinda voice*

As the whole family are slowly falling foul of a strange little tummy bug--I'm still noticably suffering but not whingingly so, from the start on Friday :(--yesterday brought no 11 along with the nasty, heavy & icy cold showers. If you were hoping to get to the clover farm, I'd take those rubber dungerees trout fishermen wear cuz it was wet enough when I went past t'other day! Ask Freeby to lend you hers; the smell has gorn orf a bit since the last Hubert m/eats the chilli, beetroot & turnip fricassee incident :D

Ohhhhhh I can't lend mine to anyone today, I promised to help Igor decant the black stuff into fancy bottles to lure the unsuspecting newbies  I have my gas mask and welding gloves but as the cauldron is hissing and steaming I'm not sure it's enough..............anyone know any firemen not using their breathing equipment

Wish me luck............I'm going in ...............

.......................Question........Why has Igor got that four leaved clover there???? Has someone re-explained the need for underwear recently???? Especially if there is a lot of bending over involved whilst clad in a kilt

Cw18 – I have swithered whether or not to buy a breadmaker. Is it worth it?:)
    I actually have 2 !!!

One (which I've had from before the house move in 2001, so probably for around 14 years) makes 2.5 or 3lb loaves. The other (now about 15 months old) makes 1, 1.5 or 2lb loaves.

The big one was fine for a family - apart from the slices from the loaves (especially the 3lb) were too tall for the toaster. But I was throwing quite a bit of the 2.5lb size away now I'm on my own - hence the purchase of the smaller one.

I now generally make the 1.5lb size, which will last me a couple of days even if I have toast for breakfast (cut as thick as I dare without risking it getting stuck in the toaster) and sandwiches for lunch.

I keep wobbling between whether it's any cheaper than buying bread or not, but that's mainly with the basic white compared to the supermarket cheap loaves. Once I start on spelt and rye I reckon it definitely is - plus I get to make that in a proper loaf size, whereas it's a bloomer (which doesn't lend itself tobeing used in a toaster) at Mr M.

The other beauty is that I can keep flour and yeast in stock, and if I get snowed in or am too ill to venture out (contagious or dizzy spells rather than not being able to eat) I can make myself a loaf rather than trying to contact a neighbour and ask for a favour - and it also allows me to keep an NSD when the only thing I'd otherwise have needed was bread ;)

Really interesting to read about a bread maker, I'm tempted :)

Definitely going to be a NSD here today, so that's good news. That's my randomly chosen first target of NSD #10 met, there's still room for more this month and a good benchmark for future months.

Dreading a garage bill tomorrow though as car is making weird noises and needs looking at :(

    Morning All,

Thanks Freeby for the update, are you always such an early bird?, I'm much more of a night owl, though I did surface respectably early today and trying to catch up with some jobs I've been 'overlooking' fo a while.

Managed another NSD 8/15 on Thursday:beer:, seem to have lost count of xx in a row, anyone have good ideas how to keep track?

Friday was a spendy day as my evening to cook dessert for friends, in return for dinner! As I go straight from work had to purchase fresh ingredients. Kept it to less than a fiver, would havs been cheaper if I'd had more time but still not too bad I thought, would have taken the unused ingredients home but felt I ought to offer to leave them:eek:

Spendy Saturday yesterday, shopping was under budget in local shops, but met different friends for dinner so spending neccessary, went for the cheapest option I could without trying to look mean, it was very good food. Finished off with something called a chocolate & caramel tart...mmm yummie:rotfl:.

Sounds like I have a social life:o, but its a bit intermittant, I am lucky enough to have some good friends though and I value their friendship. Trying to work out how much I need to save each month to pay for our meal out every 3 monhs or so. Might start a meal out pot from under budget shopping.

Today shoud be NSD but its early and that could change so we'll see.

    Have a good Sunday everyone
