Is this an NSD since there is already credit on my Oyster card?
If you're going to count the day you load the card and the days you use the card, then you should also be counting the day you fill the fuel tank in your car and the days you use the petrol (which means every time you use the car).Cheryl0 -
Assuming you counted the day you loaded your Oyster card as a spend day, then you shouldn't be counting the days you use your Oyster card (unless you also part with cash from your purse or use plastic to purchase anything) as you've already accounted for that money.
If you're going to count the day you load the card and the days you use the card, then you should also be counting the day you fill the fuel tank in your car and the days you use the petrol (which means every time you use the car).
Thank for your input. I last loaded the Oyster card last Tuesday so not going to count any use except topping it up. This is consistant with how I would treat petrol i.e. only the day I fill the tank or buy more oil counts.0 -
Evening everyone,
I am happy to report that yesterday and today were NSDs # 3 and 4 /12.
I might get another one tomorrow but will really have to fight the urge for a Friday treat! (and get off my behind and make something for my lunch at work)

A lot of people don't count hospital-related trips as spend days. I know I certainly don't!
Not a NSD for me today. Had to get petrol, as almost running on fumes. Also got a tenner out for the pub tomorrow. Counting it today, as the money left the bank today. So tomorrow should be a NSD.Because it's fun to have money!

I have a dilema for next week - need to go for an ultrasound at a private hospital about 9 miles from me.
I could get the bus almost all of the way and walk the last bit, then walk home, thus continuing my 10 mile minimum walking per day. The bus would cost £1.50. Is this an NSD since there is already credit on my Oyster card?
If I drove, the cost in petrol and oil would be around £1.50 worth of fuel but would be a NSD as I am not spending anything.
Appreciate that I'm thinking deeply into this but if I am doing the NSD challenge then I am absolutely taking it seriously.
I would be tempted to count this as an essential spend,ie it does not count. You can't not go after all.Another example of this is that I personally don't count prescriptions as a spend as they're essential.
I wouldn't count using your Oyster card as a spend either on the days you use it,but count the day that you topped it up.You can't pay for it twice, can you?
If you're not happy with this idea, maybe try and make it a spend day and stock on your weekly shop at the same time or anything else you need, meaning that you only lose one day?
