What tablet works with Microsoft Office (specifically Excel)?

Walk into a store, a John Lewis, a carphone warehouse (with tablets), a Large tescos superstore, a currys, or a PC world and play with the tablets there, and see if you want to pay for a higher end tablet, like an Ipad, or Samsung, or even a Kindle Fire. THEN come back with what you'd like it like. So a screen the size of the Ipad 3, or Ipad mini, or the feel of an Samsung, or a Goggle one, Write on it, try the keyboards out first.
Apps can be used on either OS, Android, or iOS, or even Windows one if you do wish to spend that money. Basic editing is fine for excel, office suite on ios or android is simply not available, so don't expect to be able to edit fully like a windows version with an iOS, or Android tablet.
You also might find other budgeting apps on whatever OS that actually works easier and better than an excel worksheet as well.
Almost year old, but this gives a good basis on things for 3 different OS

There is a samsung for about £240 & there was a deal (stock flies in & out) for a recon ipad for about £260.
I like both of those. Didn't think Microsoft office & ipad were compatable?0 -
I have the office suite, I want a tablet I can run it on.
I was thinking up to £250
There were some tablets that ran Windows 7 (and you might find one in your budget), but I strongly suspect they weren't very good.
Windows 8 was much more designed with tablets in mind, but is expensive to buy on a tablet.
Hence the recommendations above for tablets running Android etc., which would still probably be cheaper even though you'd have to find office software for it.0 -
Office on Windows RT tablets is pretty much the same office as on your laptop/desktop. I've yet to find any major differences (apart from macros) and I'm a heavy excel user on the Microsoft Surface.
Windows 8 Tablets will run the same office as normal computers, so you should be able to install your copy if you can find a way that doesn't require cd.
Other tablets have programs that will give you office like features and read/write office documents which will probably be all you need for your use but are not great for heavy or specialized use.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -

Not for two hundred and fifty quid, though.
The OP has been told the answer: you cannot run Excel, even if you own a copy already, on any tablet that will cost 250 quid. You can use the built-in Excel on a Surface RT, but they are about 400 pounds (see here). Otherwise, you can use Office-alikes on Android, you can use iWork on Apple kit (although again not for 250 pounds) and I'm sure there are other solutions. But what you're not going to do is load a pre-existing copy of Excel on any tablet this side of a full-blown x86 Surface or other Windows 8 tablet, which is a lot more money, mostly because it's not aimed at the domestic market.
Choosing a tablet based on a belief that you must have Excel, rather than some similar spreadsheet, is almost certainly a case of the tail wagging the dog.0 -

Why not use Google Docs. Its online 'cloud' storage, as well as allowing you to edit/create documents in the web browser. There are also apps for ipad/android so you ca upload and manage documents. Whilst the spreadsheet program isn't as comprehensive as Excel, its fairly good and for tracking your spending is maybe up to it. There may well be better free Apps for just that job anyway... http://docs.google.com0

As I said earlierBasic editing is fine for excel, office suite on ios or android is simply not available,
BUT you can get 3rd party apps for either android or iOS that allows basic editing, so if you want a tablet for about £250 then you would be using a 3rd party app to edit them in a simple manner.
Which is fine, from what you say you will do, will suit what you want or need to do, just need to decide which tablet you want to get now.0 -

I don't think you even need a Microsoft/hotmail email address to use it; I believe you can sign up for a Microsoft Account with any email address (eg. gmail)
You can give these both a go for free, now, of course. I slightly prefer the Google version myself.0
