Still waiting for First First Utility bill!!!!!

Options
Anyone else still waiting for a bill from First Utility????

Switched to them at the end of October to their Fixed term which was the cheapest on the market. Was expecting a variable direct debit monthly bill.

Yet still no bill. Have rung them today and about a month ago and they just keep saying "don't worry, you should get a bill soon!!!!"

Beginning to wonder whether I made a mistake switching from British Gas just to save myself £100 a year. For me, the service from British Gas was good. Submitted meter readings on the smartphone app once a month, then only paid for what I used. Simples. No going into large amounts of credit/debit depending on the time of year.

You need to be more assertive with them. Get them to define exactly when 'soon' will be.
  • Hi

I am the same as you. Moved to them in November 2012. Entered monthly meter readings online. Emailed three times now asking for a bill and get the same generated response saying they are developing a new billing system.

same here, joined in October, well first I knew that the switch had taken place was a letter from Eon to say sorry I had left.

anyway I have provided readings, but I am unsure where they have got their first lot of readings from, my meters are in the house and I am out all day, and I didn't provide any.

the initial readings were way out, and after losing the will to live with their bog standard reply emails and not being able to get through on the phone I cancelled my £80 a month D/D, thought that would spring them into action

Nope, they are now asking for my opening readings from beginning of October... how can I provide what I didn't provide to begin with.

they have offered me £20 as a goodwill gesture for all the stress etc, but still no bill....

so I have still no bill, no idea what is going on.. at my wits end

59 emails back and forth to date... yes they have their own folder in my mail box now

    unbelievable

how do you go about reporting them to OfGem, what can be done, I am wondering if they are in breach of contract and if I could just switch again and leave them, but the reason I went was to fix my bills

grrrrrrrr they are soooooooo blinking incompetent.

anyone got any ideas on what to do?
    2007 £1749
    2008 £291.99
    2009 JanMasscara £7.00 Feb megcabot books x 2 £20 XFactor tkts x 2 £58.00 (couldn't go though as they only phoned on day :-( ) foundation £7.99
total so far for 09 £92.99
  • Ok, I have just logged on to my account and spoke to one of their reps on live chat. He has took my meter readings today and promised a manual bill will be emailed to me by the end of tomorrow.

    Not holding my breath!
  • Hi Dipsy

Did you get a final bill from EON? If you did then FU would have provided them with the meter reading, at least thats what happened when I left EON?

  • Joined them in October - still not received a bill. They even responded to my letter of complaint by saying "You will receive a bill within 3 months!".

I responded to that by saying I'd switch away from them if I had not received a bill by 20th January. You've guessed it, I've switched away from them and am still waiting for a settlement bill!

    Hi

Do you have potential penalties for moving?

I believe that there would have been penalties for leaving if I had done so within three months, but I was just outside of that period. in any event, I cited 'breach of contract' on FU's part in my complaint letter so did not expect any penalties to be applied.

I have yet to receive my settlement bill, so do not know if they have applied any, but we'll wait and see - and fire off another complaint if they do.
