Opened my payslip without me knowing..???

Hello,
Gonna cut a long story short. I work in Clinton's, previously Clinton cards, part time (16+ hours). Just this month, our store was put on a clocking in, clocking out system to keep track of our hours etc. As this was the first montj, errors we're expected.
Payday was Friday. As I was off on Friday, I didn't get my payslip until Saturday. When I picked it up from the staff office, the 3 tear away edges had been torn away. But at the time I thought nothing of it, and I was in a rush to get home.
Today however, I was told by another member of staff that our supervisor, who has some kind of personal issue with me for no reason whatsoever ( checks up on my work, looks for mistakes I make, generally makes me feel very uncomfortable), called them to ask if their payslip could be opened to check wages, as a lot of people had been underpaid. I checked with a few other members of staff and they all said they were called by the supervisor and asked for their permission to have their payslip open.
My issue is that I was not called, had no messages and was not told even when I asked where my payslip was so I could collect it.
What can I do about this? Surely it's not legal? I had.no idea my payslip was going to be opened or who it was opened by.
Thanks

No he has no right to open your payslip what so ever. You can take this up with HR i would speak with them tomorrow monring. If he had concerns re pay he should have spoken with the payroll dept, this is no different to opening your mail. It is private and he has an utter cheek to behave like this and i for one would not allow him to get away with this !!0

Definitely report it, the area manager might be a good first option0

It's actually a woman supervisor, not that it matters though. Everyone's payslip was opened but everyone else was asked first. That's what I have an issue with, the fact that I wasn't asked. She definitely has some kind of problem with me, I just sense it from her, she looks me up and down when I arrive for my shift, sighs if I ask her a question, never converses with me but is always chatting and laughing with everyone else. It's pretty clear she doesn't like me, which I could deal with because I don't overly care what people think of me, but when it involves private and confidential info about money that I am earning and tax info, that's when I have an issue. I'll be emailing HR tomorrow.0

If a lot of people had been unpaid OP then I am sure the staff would have made that known to the manager/hr/payroll so no need to have you all open the payslips (which you would do anyway)
By looking at yours did the manger know you were under or over paid? I doubt either. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The issue with the workplace is that all the managers, supervisors and people of 'power' are all in a little clique and I feel (know) that I couldn't report it to my store manager because she is friends with this supervisor. Comes across as very unprofessional but that's how it is.0

Totally unacceptable behavior - I'd bring it up with her manager too.Thinking critically since 1996....0

To be honest I have no idea. I am not sure why they were opened exactly, just that it was something to do with checking wages were right because a lot of us didn't get all our overtime hours paid to us. But my issue was that I wasn't even asked or notified it had been opened, literally nothing. No missed calls, no voicemails. I'm pretty sure she probably called everyone but me, just out of spite.0 -
Was this a paypacket? With your wages in in cash?
However, the fact that you didn't raise it at the time makes your complaint less credible.
Are the payslips handed out or are they just openly available for anyone to handle? If its the latter then you have no proof that the supervisor to whom you refer opened it; it could have been anyone. Having said that it is poor practice if they are left lying around; they should be handed to you, whether they contain cash, a cheque or simply a payslip.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

No it was my payslip that says how much I earnt, how much tax paid etc. It should have been sealed round 2 sides and bottom but it was completely opened. It has my name and address on front, private tax info and earnings and on front it says in large letter 'private and confidential'.Was this a paypacket? With your wages in in cash?0
