MAN-JFK/MAN-BOS flight query

Hi

I need some advice I have been looking at flights from Manchester to New York.

Currently they are £1104 (for 2 people) with american airlines -they've slowly risen from £1002.

However I looked at Manchester to Boston flights with a change at JFK (exactly the same flight as above) then onto Boston. I can get these for £990 (for two people) again with american airlines.

Now my question is can I book the Man-Boston flights but just not use the JFK-Boston flight and again on the return just arrive at JFK for theflight back to Manchester or will it end up being cancelled as I didn't get on the first leg?

Hope this makes sense.

  • You may be able to leave at JFK (as you have to collect and recheck your luggage anyway), but you will not be able to miss the BOS-JFK flight. Why not go to Boston? It's a very lovely place.

what tends to happen when you miss a leg of a flight is all subsequent legs are cancelled

Caz3132 is spot on! Don't leave at JFK as you will be recorded as a non-show on the JFK/BOS sector and your return flight cancelled.

The trouble is that the MAN-NYC route doesn't have much competition so direct flights tend to be quite expensive. Have you looked at going via Dublin on Aer Lingus? The advantage of doing that is that you can clear US Immigration in Ireland so you are treated as a domestic arrival in the US.
