I need a small, battery powered pocket device which will chime/buzz gently at pre-set intervals - say 20mins - throughout the day.
I need to be able to turn it off at night and switch on again in the morning when I will find it raring to go on the same cycle without having to to be programmed again.
This is to remind me to get up and move around. I have been diagnosed with a heart problem and I must not get too sedentary.
My guess, especially after doing a bit of research already, is that this does not exist except as some 'app' for a few hundred poundsworth of smart phone which I have no intention whatsoever of buying.
The curse of modern 'progress', eh..? I would love to be informed to the contrary!

How about an alarm clock with a "snooze" button that you can set to different times?
Most mobiles, even basic ones, have this function on.
Or a wind up kitchen timer?Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -
Thanks. Obviously the 'kitchen timer' would have to be reset after each buzz. My phone is an old time 'basic' Nokia3310 and I very much doubt it has this function. Still, I shall investigate!0

Kitchen electronic timer, you can get smaller ones, but you'd have to set it. Then again if it beeps at you, and you get up and move, then you can just reset it at that point?
Otherwise you are looking at an app for the likes of smart phones.
Do you know anyone electronically techie? Maybe it's something someone could build for you. Or approach any local universities and enquire if it's something that one of their students could take on as a project. It sounds like an idea that should be out there for main sale.0 -
I too have to move about quite frequently, sorry dont know of any gadget that you descibe.
I have over time programmed myself, set an inner clock as it were to remind myself to get up and walk about.
A realy useful reminder was my kitchen timer, cost a 1.00. I found most of time I was moving anyway, housework, shopping, gardening but I do
get engrossed in a book or on the computer and found that the timer
helped a lot.
Hope this helps a bit and that you find a way to suit you.Slimming World at target0 -

Yes, you'd think so but I just can't find anything. I think I shall ask the British Heart Foundation or suchlike.0 -
I have a small digital kitchen timer that I can set for the time I need and when it goes off I press stop but it stores the time so I can just press start again.
So in your situation you set it for 20 mins, it goes off, you press stop and can immediately press start again.
Though mine isn't suitable to go in a pocket as the buttons are easily pressed when you sit down so you would need to find a buttonless one or not keep it in your pocket.
Googling for digital kitchen timer brings up lots of results, hopefully there's something there that would suit:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Use a kitchen timer, and place it on the other side of the room. That way you will have to get up to turn it off and reset it.0

Why not use the PC
On line repeating alarm here

Or if you have windows 7

Or a countdown stopwatch timer - I had one that was designed to be on a cord around your neck (PE teacher style), but there must be lots of wristwatch style ones. I'd have a look under fitness equipment to see if there is anything suitable.
Digital watches used to beep on the hour back when that kind of thing was fashionable - perhaps that would be enough?0 -
