Sainsbury's Taste The Difference were nice, but stopped buying them as they went up and up to a silly price. £2 now for 1.5kg!! They were just over a £1 (£1.25'ish) when I used to buy them ................... long time ago.

Tesco's Finest are the best in my opinion. Were £1 around Christmas but like Sainsbury's, they are now £2... Not a chance at that price.

Those ones above are nice but I prefer Aunt Bessies crinkle chips best out there but not cheap around £2 for 950g

Best buy ( or grow your own ) fresh potatoes - peel and chip - wash out starch then fry at 130 degree until soft - allow to cool then fry at 190 degree until crisp - awsome !
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, then perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away. thoreau

I like to keep some as a stand-by for CBA days. For a low-fat option I buy McCains Rustic chips which are £1 per kg in Farmfoods (but £1.50 in majour supermarkets:().
They're not cheap but OP won't find any small bits in them they're ENORMOUS!!

Make your own. No need to peel, cut into chips, rinse, dry, then coat with oil and shove in the oven. Take about 30 mins. I hate oven chips they don't taste of anything.

For pity sake - this is a money saving site - buy( or grow ) some potatoes and chop them up into little rectangles then fry them.

Mmm second this, they're great deep fried as well. I still buy them because I don't have chips all that often and they're still cheaper than McCain home chips, which is what I used to have. Though when I'm not being lazy I do try and just make my own and peeling and chipping a couple of spuds.
  • Chips have gone up this year due to the huge rise in the cost of potatoes, the rain and poor harvest have affected the potato, many potato growers are having much smaller harvests and also potato size is smaller this year too.
