    Another vote for rubble sacks if you really can't stretch to a proper mailing bag. They can smell a bit funny though.

    And just to say, for those advocating wrapping all over in brown tape - that's good for ensuring that it doesn't split, but if you over-do it, it can actually end up delaying your parcel because all-over-shiny can mean it doesn't pass through the automated mail system properly and ends up needing "manual handling".

  • my local pound shop sells the mailing bags at 10 for £1. Also adaprting supermarket bags for life work very well as well

    I saw someone sending a large parcel loosely wrapped in brown paper and tied loosely with string, going internationally. I'd hope the Post Office didn't accept it, I didn't hang around to find out. I'm sure some people think that their parcels get personally accompanied all the way by a nice postman.
