Get them to walk to the turnstiles with you then only hand your money over once you know it's genuine.
I was at a sold-out gig last night (admittedly at a much smaller venue and there were no touts) and the doorman knew who was looking for tickets and who was selling and was pointing them in the direction of each other.
At a bigger venue just look for people approaching touts to sell tickets and tell them you're looking to buy. The touts will be offering them less than face value so if you offered them face value they'd be delighted. It seems in any crowd of gig-going friends there's always one person that can't make it at the last minute!
The time we got them less than face value was Green Day at Wembley. I'd bought tickets off a friend for my DS and DSS and we'd taken them there and were walking away to find a pub to sit in until it was time to pick them up. I just said to a tout that we'd dropped our kids off and if he was going to go home with unsold tickets, we would buy them off him cheap and he asked us just to make him an offer there and then. Probably best not to look desperate to go, if you look old enough to have kids tell them you've dropped yours off and are just killing time

I went to see the Chili Peppers on my own. It wasn't as much fun as when I saw them with friends but it was absolutely fine.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

I've been to hundreds of gigs on my own locally and those I've had to travel to. Never been an issue for me. I'm used to it as very few of my friends share my taste in music.0

I've been to a number of gigs on my own. Husband and mates aren't into some of the bands I am so I go by myself. I've even abandoned my husband on holiday in LA to go and see the Killers at the Hollywood Bowl. Go for it, you'll only regret it if you don't.
Try the legit ticket resale sites too, at least then you know you're covered if there are problems with the tickets.0 -
I don't have any experience of going to concerts by myself.. but did manage to get some for me and a friend with o2's presale (and it only took 2 hours :l)!

I've been to various concerts on my own for 40 years and never had any problems. In fact, I'd probably say that I'd rather go on my own.0 -

Thanks but you know that isn't really Beyonces official facebook page? At the moment they are directing people to Get Me In where a standing ticket is £198! The proper facebook page is the one with the accent on the e.0 -
Hi. I am a female in my mid 20's and I have been to a concert and comedy show tour thingy alone and trust me it is FINE!!! I am very shy and was so worried about going alone but when you get there it is fine. Everyone else is there for the same thing..to enjoy the show. And yes during intervals it may get boring but go to the bar and get yourself a drink. You don't need to be attached to a friend at these things and like other people here have said you make friends and talk to other people there. Honestly it is not a big deal. I am actually going to see Beyonce by myself after having a similar issue with my friend. Go for it you will not regret it, it's actually liberating. My motto is... you go alone and have an awesome time, amazing memories and seeing an artist you like or you stay at home and wonder what if? or I wish.
Enjoy!!!! x0
