Well done on taking such a brave step - it's onwards and upwards from here on. Your OH will come round - he's had a shock, let him deal with it, but his reaction hasn't been too bad. You now have to find a way to deal with this - and you will. Lots of us have been in situations where there does seem no way out but we've found it.
Best thing is to post up a SOA and you'll get lots of good advice. People on this board are overwhelmingly helpful and supportive. With the help of the good folks on here I'm back in control, not debt free and it's still not easy, but I don't lose sleep any more. And that's a miracle compared to where I was this time last year.
Got my fingers crossed it all works out for you. Be nice to him!

There is no harm in giving MBNA a call about the interest rate. Ok, so they might say "no" but if you don't ask you will never know.
Same goes for any other CCs that you have - give them a call, you may get the odd percentage point knocked off. Certainly worth a try.
I hope you have a reasonable day, and when you get your SOA together, don't panic if it looks horrific - we will have seen worse!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Well done on taking the bull by the horns, rosie. Give him time, men like to go off into their little cave (mentally) and he'll be trying to fathom out his way of dealing with it. Cool is good, because he's not steaming and hitting out

Even better is the fact that you will now be working towards a common goal and you need to support one another through it. He may well come up with ideas that you haven't even thought of (not just the tongue in cheek red light one).
Onwards and upwards - you'll both work through this

Congratulations on telling your husband, at least that is done now. What I would do know if do your SOA and work out who what and how you are going to start paying it back and when he comes back you can show him that not only have you got the problem you also have a solution.
Well done again and I hope you have a good day.

That's the hardest part over. Though it will still be difficult from here on, at least there are two of you to tackle it together. Though I didn't keep our debts hidden from OH I think he was still shocked at the size of the debts. I don't think he imagined it was anywhere near that figure. However, I didn't tell him the true figure until I had paid half off. Now I just give him a monthly update.0

hi there
i don't know what your total position is, but are you able to try and transfer all/some of the balance to a low life-of-balance credit card at all?
good luck - remember everyone on here will be glad to help you with your SOA.0 -
Morning,
Well done for facing him with this....this was the hardest step and the thing that was in the way of you really dealing with your situation. Now he knows you don't have to creep around or panic about having to get found out. Yes, he probably will be cool for a few days but what can he do, what's done is done now and hopefully he will get his head round it and support you trying to sort it all out.
Well done, that must've been really hard to do.
