Anyone else unhappy at work but unable to find a new job?

Hi all,
I wondered if there is anyone else who is very unhappy in their current job but unable to get find another?
I know that I'm lucky to be in work, and realise there are many people who are out of work, so please believe when I say I don't want to upset or annoy anyone with my post.
I've been looking for another job for over a year but not having any luck so far. There are many problems - being overworked while others have little to do, having a bully boss, and working with my some nasty, unpleasant colleagues. Every day is a living nightmare. I desperately, desperately want to get out, but until I can get another job I'm trapped. I've come from work today feeling so unhappy I feel that suicide will be my only option if I can't find another job soon. Life feels pointless when I'm so unhappy for 5 days out of 7. (Sorry, don't want to depress anyone.)
I just wondered if anyone is stuck in a job that's making them miserable, and if so how do you cope to get yourself through it?
Thanks for reading.

Why cant you get a new job?
What feedback are you getting? How many interviews have you had? How many jobs have you applied for? We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

There haven't been many full time permanent jobs in my area, mainly temp or part time. I need full time otherwise can't afford to pay bills etc. With the ones I've applied for with I had one interview - feedback was someone had more experience - and with the others no response.0 -

I feel your pain. Last year I had 15 interviews at 9 different places - three times I got down to the last two at third interview. It was soul destroying as I desperately want to leave my current job.
I've taken some time out and applied for my first job this year only yesterday.
Feedback was always you're a lovely person but someone else has more/different experience.
Let's hope 2013 is better for both of us! x0 -

Thanks for your post deedee. Sometimes it helps to know there are others going through a similar thing - not that I'd wish this on anyone.
I wish you luck in your job hunting and hope something comes along for you very soon. I can understand why you took a break, it can be soul destroying, especially when you have got so close.
All the best to you x0 -
Are you doing any night time courses? I'd recommend taking up a trade, eventually becoming efficient in electrics, construction, literacy, computer programming or whatever it is you don't know yet. Try and learn as much as possible so you can do this stuff on the side then you could take up a part time job somewhere as they're more available.0
