Difficulty getting PAC from Three

I vaguely envisage a conversation going something like this:
me: I have to advise you that this call may be recorded for monitoring purposes. (meaning it is being recorded)
I wish to give notice and arrange a PAC please.
them: why do you want to leave?
me: that's my decision. Now, I need a PAC please
them: who are you transferring to?
me: that is for me to know and decide, not you. Is it your intention to honour your obligations in this matter? . . .The bankers stole my pension (and everyone else's). It should have earned a lot of money, but they took their bonus pot first.0 -
God those conversations are awful - I had 30 minutes once where we had a stand-off because I refused to get into a conversation about why.0

It took me several attempts to get my PAC code. I gave up a few times because I was being told - you'll lose all your loyalty discount (what loyalty discount???) as soon as you request it, no more offers blah blah. I bit the bullet eventually and actually got lucky in speaking with someone who did not give me too much hassle (but who also said no more offers). Also gave 30 days notice which is important.
During various attempts to get a new deal, I too have been about Virgin and how they'll change things once you sign up.
To be honest, it's all a bit of a minefield and I'm not sure whether one provider is better or worse than the other. Some family members are with Orange and there have been huge issues with them at times.
In my 30 days notice but no decision yet on what to do arghhh!0 -
My OH tried to leave 3 today - good god! I still feel angry and I wasn't even on the call!
He wants to leave as the reception in certain places he needs to use his phone regularly has gone really poor over the last few months. It's never been that great anyway e.g. he's never been able to get stable reception when travelling on a train - he travels a lot for work - but over the past few months, in a couple of places that he regularly stays overnight he can now not get any reception whatsoever not even for a minute so his contract is useless as he needs his phone for work purposes as well as personal. His reception's pretty much disappeared at home too. Definitely not an issue with his phone as my SIM on a different network works perfectly in his phone and his SIM still doesn't work in my phone.
He rang up to cancel, he was on hold for 45 minutes before getting through and they just would not take no for an answer. They kept asking him for the addresses of the places he couldn't get reception - when he said he wasn't interested in fixing it and just wanted to cancel, they said it was important as their technical team would need to know so they could try and fix the problem. He kept repeating that he wasn't interested but they wouldn't give up, so he gave one of the postcodes and with no warning they put him on hold again to go and look it up, then came back to him and insisted the reception was really strong in that area, and tried to transfer him to the technical team anyway as it must be a problem with his phone!
He was getting really frustrated by this point and kept saying "no I just want to cancel" and they started giving it the whole "looking at your usage we could drop your monthly cost to £X amount" speech and he just laughed and said what's the point of paying less on something he still can't use?! They did not seem to get the hint at all, I was sat in the room and he asked to cancel his contract more than 25 times before finally hanging up and calling back hoping to get someone else - of course by that point they were closed, as their "cancellations" department closes hours before the rest of them because they don't want anyone to leave! Bloody idiots.0 -
In such cases the easiest way is to say that you already have a new contract with another network. Works a treat.0

He did actually say this when he phoned back the second time, but they still didn't want to listen! They kept saying he had to tell them why he didn't want to be a Three customer anymore as they needed to pass the information on to the relevant department so the problem could be fixed, or they wouldn't let him cancel. Absolutely shocking customer service. When he said there wasn't a problem (lying this time thinking it would be faster and avoid the whole 'postcode' nonsense like last time) but he already had a new contract elsewhere, they wanted to know all the details of his new contract so that they could beat the prices - even though he said he was already paying another network so obviously he wouldn't want to stay with Three! They really did not want to take no for an answer. He really had to shout them down this time and say he didn't give a flying crap about helping them fix their problems. He was on the phone for two hours but he finally got his PAC this time - on hold for 45 minutes before they answered, argued with them for nearly an hour before they started processing the cancellation, and then it took them a further 20 minutes to actually give him the flipping code.0 -
This sounds so famililar.
Moved my son's PAYG with ease - it oly got topped up once a year.
For my wife wanted the t=mobile iphone deal and 3 could not match it. Then asked for my PAC. My wife was in the next room and she could hear my frustrations. Thy even suggested reducing her sim only deal down to £5 and keep the account live!!!!
I said numberous times, NO I WANT MY PAC.
Eventually they gave in.
I've not had a reception at my desk at work since me moved offices. So following the annoying issue in getting my wife's PAC I had encoutgh and then requested mine. This was a much simplier process and said I had no ignal at work and now had to. PAC arrived and was a much easier process.
Being annoyed at 3 made me move my mobile number to T-mobile0 -

A friend of mine told Three that his work were now paying for their phone and contract, so unless Three could beat a monthly cost of £0 then he wanted to cancel.0 -
I just had the PAC request conversation nightmare. Even having read this it was difficult. I was leaving 7 months early. Eventually she said she would pay the remainder of my contract if I cancelled my PAC request and was then personally shocked that I didn't accept her offer!! TBH by that point I didn't believe a word she was saying. Got it in the end. Took 45 minutes0
