How on earth is this possible I'm asking myself? Has anyone got any bright ideas that could help?

I'm struggling to understand how I'm spending about £15 each month while we're all in bed and the lights are off!

Just look at your meter at night with everything switched off as it would be when you go to bad. See what sort of use it is recording, by leaving it 30 minutes or so and seeing what the change is. You'll need to look at the fractions of kWh to do that.
Immersion heater, possibly on a timer, is one possibility. What's your daytime usage like? If that is also high, it could be something on constantly, or even something like a faulty fridge/freezer.

Thanks for the responses...I seem to be using around 600W-800W per hour somewhere during the night. Definitely not immersion heater. The only things that are on are one small light in the bathroom for the kids, fridge, freezer and a sewage treatment plant pump in the garden...

A few modern appliances on standby but it still seems a lot to me. Generally using about £3 worth of electricity per day this Winter (at 11.5p per unit) so seems high to me.

I'm going to get all investigative with my meter tomorrow when everyone is out!

There will no doubt be an answer somewhere!

I'd be checking out how much power the pumps on the treatment plant are taking.

Night storage heaters? Immersion timer faulty? Neighbour growing cannabis?

Thanks for the last two ideas.... I don't use the immersion heater, no underfloor heating and no other heaters...

    Cannabis - I wish!

I will be checking the treatment plant pump tomorrow...
