Anyway, I'm orf now. Thanks for the chat everyone. I may complain: not sure yet. The waitresses attitude was definately off though, and she was the one in the wrong for sure. Thanks for the support and reassurance everyone xxx0

As a matter of interest where? £6 per person spend is not going to get a much better quality meal than at spoons
What? Where can you get a panini and a coffee for £6+? For real?
Try:
Cafe Nero
Costa
Starbucks (if you don't mind the taste of evil)
Pret
BHS
Debs
Local coffee shops
...I've got a panini and a coffee for about £7 in a service station, come to that...I'm struggling to think of anywhere that sells paninis and coffee that would be significantly more...
Fine, some of these places may be £6.50, some may even be £7 - some may be £5.50, who knows...but the food, drink and service in any of them would likely better wetherspoons by some distance.
And OP, really, just had a cake...so a cake, panini, coffee and coke...Fairly sure you could do that for £12 at any of the above.
If the OP *had* got a couple of full meals and drinks for £12, I'd agree - you can't do much better - and that's why people go to wetherspoons to eat...to get cheap food! Not to get regular priced food...0 -

How is Starbucks evil?0 -
I used to go to the Buffet Star, a Chinese buffet place in Liverpool City Centre, where they had all-you-can-eat for under £7.
I thought it was good value till I read in the local paper this week that it was almost closed down after inspectors found the kitchens to be filthy beyond belief!
The floor covered in food debris, thick grease everywhere, defrosting raw chicken near cooked food...must take a lot for an inspector to be horrified, but this one was.
The paper published the most disgusting pictures.
I won't go there again no matter HOW cheap the meals are!0 -

You appear to be countering spoons with a selection of poor quality chains. I am sure the OP would have a whale of a time sat in the BHS cafe but some people like a place with a bit of craicThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. How is Starbucks evil?
You mean aside from clusterbombing, tax avoidance, the tip scandal, their reticence to use fairtrade, their refusal to allow human rights monitors to inspect their premises in the third world, their opaque use of GM, etc etc
You can do some more reading if you like..."starbuck" and "evil" returns plenty of hits on google...And some good images, too:0 -

Sorry to disagree but our local Wetherspoons is fantastic - nothing is too much trouble, the staff always come to check if the meal is OK and if there does happen to be a problem, it is rectified immediately - no quibble - with profuse apologies. Guess it depends on each individual pub. We have never had a problem - not like some other "high end" restaurants!0 -

Yes but unless I've misread the OP has no complaints with the quality of the food. Their complaints are down to the service they received. All the "alternatives" look like places where you get your own food and don't receive waiter service. Therefore they are not comparable. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
