Iphone 4 unlock

I am on Vodaphone but have recieved an iPhone 4 as a gift from my dad on orange.

Can this be unlocked for free? Does anyone know how to get a code or a method to unlock it?

It can only be unlocked by the original network and by the original owner.

Ask your Dad to phone Orange and request it, it will cost around £20.

No, normally 14-28 days for Orange.

Woah... Really? What about going to a phone stand and trying it unlocked from there. Would someone like that be able to do it?

There really is no other way to unlock an iphone 4, 4s or 5.

You could buy a Gevey Sim that fools the phone into not checking lock status but there a numerous fakes on eBay and they don't always work properly, and the genuine item is more expensive than just unlocking it properly.
