Millets closing down sale

In my local store all the travel books were down to £1. I bought two but decided against the socks I had gone in for, £15 compared to £8 on Amazon

I had a feeling they were in trouble. I bought a sleeping bag last year that was meant to be four-season, down to -20C. I used it in 2 degrees C weather and I was freezing, even in all my clothes. Wrote a complaint about how I was unhappy about its performance and could I exchange. About 2 months later I got a rude, unprofessional reply saying no exchanges and the product was doing what it was designed to do. As a result I haven't shopped at Millets ever again, and I might do a little dance if they go under :rotfl:

Just to say, I had the same problem with a non-mullets sleeping bag, a friend of mine who travels a lot told me to wear less clothes next time, and it worked! No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2023

I agree - wear less clothes. Bizarre, but true.

I think it's just the out of town stores that are closing down so there's a lot of stock to shift....the big town centre ones seem to be trading still.0

Nope, because I tried everything. First tried it wearing only tshirt and boxers... freezing at 2 degrees C in a -20 rated bag. Then I wore more clothes, but was still cold. In the end I was wearing gloves, multiple pairs of socks, etc just to stop my teeth chattering at 2 degrees C. Normally I have a hot constitution, so something was wrong somewhere.
My advice before getting anything from Millets is to read the reviews of the product beforehand online. My sleeping bag was a last minute purchase, and I didn't check the reviews, which had said that it wasn't a four season sleeping bag, and people had been cold even in the UK using it. My own stupid fault for not planning my purchase better, but I expected Millets to be more accommodating than they were. Never again :rotfl:Elite 5:2 #54 12/13 lbs (18 Jan) 1st Target :j0 -
My daughter works in the Hastings one and hope there's no sign of that one being closed, we've not heard anything. She didn't get on with college so we said she had to support herself, she did almost 50 hours last week at £3.68 an hour. Can't see them being in trouble as they were only taken over by JD sports recently, and their store is always busy....... fingers crossed.Smokefree since 27-9-20070

It's almost certain that it will not be a Millets for very much longer.
JD Sports are "re-branding" the Blacks stores (bought with the Millets ones as part of the Blacks Leisure takeover last year,) with a new store format that started in London before Xmas and is rolling out nationwide.
Millets will cease to be, "merging" with/into the new Blacks maybe

Oh i thought they were merging blacks into Millets, her payslips used to be from blacks outdoor retail or something similar, now they say JD sports. We will find out soon enough i guess as they are expecting new uniform soon. New uniform and a new name is better than another empty shop anyway
