iMessage Problems

Morning everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone has experienced issues with iMessage by way of a 3rd party receiving your messages and vice versa.
My wife and I both have iPhones on IOS6 and most of the time our messages are sent via iMessage with us connected to WIFI (her at home and me at work).
The last couple of days, when she has gone out and subsequently connected to the 3G service, we have been receiving messages from a 3rd party and they have been receiving our messages too (it’s like a 3 way conversation where all 3 parties can communicate in the same iMessage).
The 3rd party is a 10 year old girl (we found this out after her mum intercepted the messages) who we obviously don’t know and have no idea what’s happening.
I have checked both of our phones and iMessage is only configured to send and receive from our individual accounts and phone numbers.
Any ideas?

have you had an old iphone which you previously used for iMessage, and perhaps sold it on eBay or something?
I have seen it before where a person has passed on their old phone, and with a new SIM in it, it still receives their iMessages.0
