I wish my local Library was as quiet as this part of MSE

Ahh me and my colleagues were talking about badminton at lunchtime - my coach was very proper and told us to smash toward the floor....but if you want to win, of course, you smash it to the face

I have to agree with Cleggy (is this the first time ever?), a library is supposed to be a quiet place, where people can read as well as select books.
Here are the rules from the London School of Economics library

These rules pretty much apply to any library which I have visited.
Thankyou for that link. It's a shame that somewhere in the last 20 years all rules seem to have been eroded by the do gooders and leftys. Librarys and Churches should be guaranteed peaceful places to visit. Kids can go to sports halls if they wish to run up and down making loud noises.0 -
You can photocopy most things in a library for personal use... (oh the halcyon days of doing homework before t'internet!)

My uni library is lovely and quiet, people shoot evil looks at people who dare to talk and so everyone keeps the noise down. It's brilliant.
The city library is great too, the childrens bit is completely seperate to the rest of the place, so no irritating shouting can be heard.0 -

I wish they would close down library's and save the taxpayer money.0

I've either been a library patron or worked in a public library since the late 60s. I certainly remember going to story-time etc when I was a pre-schooler and doubt we were completely silent. Don't be such a miserable old sod and be glad your library is still open and available for *all* sections of the community to use.0
