Hi folks,
ISA season is pretty much upon us, and though we don’t know what rates will be like this year yet, we're starting to do some digging and want to know if you've heard anything through the grapevine.
Things like details of Barclays new ISAs, rate changes or deals exclusively for existing customers, anything at all really!
As ever, your help is much appreciated

What's special about Barclays ISAs?
Never seen Barclays figuring top of the savings league tables - are you suggesting they will be leading the pack this year?0 -
They featured as a good option last year (existing customers only as far as I remember), we're just trying to second guess what'll be the case this year.
We're doing the same for a few others as well, but at the moment, no one quite knows whats going to happen!0 -
My memory is playing lots of tricks recently, so that my be the reason that I don't recall Barclays to figure on anyone's "top" list, not last years anyway. Nationwide and Santander yes, Barclays no. Anyway, water under the bridge, unless you are part of the lucky ones who got on either or both of these. Nationwide ones are particularly lucky, because they can get another few months on 4.25% with 2013-14 money.
You are aware of Kazza's thread that always figures all the top ISAs? https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4013740 -
They were a good option, not top.
I've been keeping an eye on that but thank you for flagging it up (and thanks to Kazza!).0 -
Barclays will now accept the transfers of ISA's into the bank!
This will be announced in the next few days so keep an eye out for it
Previously this had only been allowed when offsetting a mortgage0 -
Their Loyalty ISA was 3.25% last year which wasn't too shoddy considering it's Barclays, their problem has always been that they don't accept transfers
@iluvsaving I'd be mildly interested if you had a source for this info0 -
i signed up with barclays loyalty when it was on 3.05% in june 2012...i wonder when you get the 1yr bonus? is it after 12months of having the cash isa, or when new tax isa starts?0
-
the interest for the first twelve months includes your monthly bonus and is credited to the balance of your isa at the beginning of each month, think its the 1st working day but not sure0
-
Barclays have tended to offer fixed terms ISA, rates look promising for a bit around April time and then steadily get worse through the year.
I just called Barclays and lady tells me they are bringing out some more seasonal offerings of fixed term cash ISA bonds (probably end of March). Don't hold your breath but they probably will be as a good option as any given the rates are so poor everywhere.0 -
I'm not sure that I recall a fixed term ISA from Barclays, they are usually easy access with a fixed bonus guaranteed for a year (that they re-issue throughout the year at lower rates). The current one is typical
- 2.28% AER 8/2.26% tax-free pa 2 (variable) including a 12-month fixed bonus of 0.25% tax-free pa
- Guaranteed to track at 1.76% above the base rate for 12 months and then continue to track at 1.51% above the base rate until March 2014
- Instant access to your cash when you need it

I quite like Metro Bank and don't think they get enough press, their customer service is good even if they do insist on wishing you 'an amazing day' at every opportunity. They are London based but that's no problem with the ISA as you can do it all online
As I say I could be wrong, it's been a while since I used Barclays for ISAs due to their policy of not allowing transfers in and am happy to be proved wrong0
