I'd be happy with a 7am appointment, particularly if I could have continuity and see the same doctor. When you live in a London suburb and work in Central London, a midday appointment is absolutely useless. My last appointment was a waste of time. The surgery asked me to come in fairly urgently. I did and was told that I had to wait 2 weeks for the appointment! On my return 2 weeks later, i saw a different GP who had not been briefed and did not know why I had come in.

I agree that for some people an early appointment would be very useful but not for me and I'm surprised that those aren't kept for people who work.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

    'only' a few tendons thanks.
  • My surgery has a walk- in clinic in the mornings and then bookable appts in the afternoon and evening. It seems to work well- the only thing I'd change is having a couple of days a week where appointments are in the morning and walk- in in the afternoon. That way people who need to get to work aren't kept waiting for an hour plus and people who have problems in the mornings could still be seen.
