Do not cancel any Natwest Direct Debits. Do not cancel Council Tax or utility bills until your other account is setup. Can take a good week or more to get everything through the post from A&L. - what happens when my wages go in if Nat West take it all then I wont be able to meet CT or UBs, should I take cash out of account to cover these for new account?

Why would Natwest take it all? Hopefully this month you can fully pay them what you owe them but none of the other debts!

Are you behind in your payments with them?

My account is with Nat West and so is the majority of my debts, my salary wouldn't even be a spot on it.

Hi and Welcome to the Board! (sorry Its a bit late)

When you telephone the CCCS they will most likely book an appointment with you with you as the whole thing can take about an hour and a half. It is unlikley the person who takes you initial call will be your contact there so you may not get it sorted on Tuesday evening.

From personal experience make sure that the new account is sorted out BEFORE you send letters or inform the credit card companies. The Halifax took away my overdraft nearly immediatley and left me without any money for the month at all.

With regards to calling the card companies again I would wait until you have your new account running and/or have got advice from the CCCS. If you want to make a token payment to them of £1 if that is all you can afford.

Please do not make the mistake some of us have done in the past and try to sort all this out by telephone. whatever happens make sure you put things in writing and ask ask for any agreements that may be set up to be put in writing (it took me 2 months to get barclays to commit it in writing!). I am not saying not to phone just be careful as you need proof as again I have found from personal experience.

With regards to your depression I totally sympathise as I suffer from depression myself and in my own way spent money to escape the reality of life. If needed speak to your doctor about it if you feel the depression creeping up on you.

good luck and let us know how your getting on ;)

How much are your monthly payments to Natwest?

Remember to cancel all payment protection crap before you do anything! :)

    Overdraft £3,400
    Loan Monthly payment £383.86
    Gold Card owe £10,200
    Normal Card owe £6,000

See no way could my salary cover that - should I withdraw cash to cover Council Tax and Electricity when I get paid in case this happens? (assuming I can)

Yeah but what are the min payments for the CC's? About £300 and £210 ish?

    What is your overdraft limit?

    Overdraft limit is £3400
Minimum on 1 card will be about £250 and other about £120 should be able to manage them (I hope) assuming I dont spend any other money of the account after all standing orders/direct debits are taken into consideration.

Thats probably the best thing to do but definately ask the CCCS.

I think I'm right in saying you rent. Have you considered bankruptcy?

Hello, firstly well done on getting focused on sorting this out. Just to say that if you have bought a lot of stuff in the past can you now start to ebay/car boot etc some of this stuff? It's a great feeling to get some sales and of course it'll be extra income to put against your debts. I've been amazed at ow easy it can be to get a few extra pounds in.
