  • Are there any classes or societies happening locally that you could attend?
  • Not that it helps much, but I wish I'd had the option of a car when my girls wanted to go to clubs. I'd have happily sat and waited in the warmth of a car, rather than stood in the cold - or, as was often the case, had to say 'No' to every request to do activities. I still feel guilty about that now.

Hat, jacket, gloves - you should have those already. And you have the option of a flask of coffee, a magazine, turning the engine on for some heat or driving somewhere else.

It's not exactly convenient, but, hey, it's better than having to do it by public transport.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

    Get them a bike each.
  • Thanks for the replies. My oldest son has Down's Syndrome and several medical conditions. He couldn't get a bus independently, and cannot ride a bike. He has a mental age of around six years old. The youngest has to be collected from YC, as that is one of their rules, otherwise he could get the bus.

I didn't think about supermarkets for a coffee. There is a Tesco with a cafe nearby, so I will probably become a regular visitor there instead. Thanks for the suggestion. There is a leisure centre down the road, but no classes that I'm interested in at the times I would be available.

I know I could use the time more constructively than just reading, but it might be quite nice to have the time to red for a bit. When the nights are are lighter, I think I'll take my cross stitch, as I never seem to have time to do that. Maybe I'll finally finish a couple of projects that I've had on the go for some time :D

I could take a laptop with me if I use Costa. I hadn't thought of that. There are a couple of online courses that I would like to do for Guiding (I'm a Rainbow and Brownie leader), so that is an optIn I hadn't thought of.

I've also spoken to the Chair of the group that I help to run. I've explained why I won't be able to attend any more meetings, and she has suggested that we have the meetings on different nights each month, so that I'm not the only committee member who has to miss meetings. It does mean that others will miss one every now and then, but we can't get a night when we a all available.

I'm feeling more positive about things now - thank you.
