I can't help out at the clubs as I would be bobbing in and out, and to be honest I want my kids to have a bit of time away from me. We attend other groups where I am there. YC is there to give the kids a chance to be kids without their family there, and DC already has three adults for between two and six teenagers. I also enjoy the chance to read my Kindle, from a purely selfish point of view. Sleep sounds good though

Andy, the kids dad started a new family in another part of the country a few years ago. He sees them for a few hours on a Saturday (and I catch up on my sleep then, as I'm up several times a night with my oldest son), but isn't around during the week.0 -

Oh, I was just saying that dads in general (and I, in particular. :cool: ) often do a bit of taxiing.

doesn't make sense to run heater if you can instead take a couple of warm blankets! take a flask and a snack and try to use the time productively - I sympathise hun. but, there isn't much else you could do is there?0

I don't mind not running the heater for me so much, it's more for my older son in the earlier part of the evening. His breathing is compromised when the air is too cold. Having said that, I must admit that the chill today has probably made me consider the cold more. I'll try a blanket for me.
Roll on summer
. It won't be a problem at all then - I'll just take a bottle of diluted cordial and my Kindle. 0 -
Oh and I used to do this for a couple of years as Junior went to a Sea Cadet unit about 40 mins away from home.
I used to either use the time to do the weekly shopping or I used to be the sad sap in the cafe nursing a cup of coffee but I got 'me time (lol) when I could read a book in relative peace (was especially nice if I went to somewhere there was a settee rather than being sat bolt upright iyswim.)
Does Costa have wifi and do you have a laptop? If yes what about catching up on all those emails or banking things that needs to be done?
Couldn't the eldest make his own way to Deaf Club? Life got alot easier when Junior could make his own way there as it meant we weren't rushing a) to get there and b) hanging around.2014 Target;

just a thought, instead of costa coffee, how about a wetherspoon if there is one nearby? their coffee is costa and only 99p I think :-)0

Sorry to be obvious but have you checked out the buses to see if they could travel independently?0

Just a thought, is there a swimming pool or leisure centre nearby, sitting there would keep you nice and warm in this weather?£2012 in 2012 = £34.440

How about going to the cafe in the supermarket? Cheaper than costa.0

Use the time constructively, I did a lot of my MBA work and research sitting in my car. You can also knit or sew, do your budget, plan meals, or borrow a dog and take it with you and walk it. I find that if I feel I am doing something constructive I don't bother so much about hanging about.0
