It may be worth noting that Asda reviews are usually checked before posting. I've never had a positive review rejected, but negative, factual ones have always been given the boot. Funny, that. I now take any reviews on a company's own site with a pinch of salt. Especially where their own brand products are involved.

I find that negative reviews are published as long as they are not emotional, just state the facts and are not unfairly critical.

Fairly good point. I read the reviews in the above link and if many people have got on fine with it then it doesn't mean it's got a design fault and needs to be withdrawn because 1 person wants it to!

I last week bought the blue version of the kettle in the op and have had no problems with it.

Yes I agree with you both. My idea was to warn people about what happened last night. Hopefully my kettle was faulty and a one off as Asda's stuff is usually very good.

Having spoken to a customer advisor at HO I gave her my name & address and the details on the receipt.

I just don't want anybody getting hurt.

My first review wasn't over emotional nor overly critical and I stated what had happened. Anyway I have submitted another but haven't checked whether it's been posted yet.

    Second review rejected.

My comments were only on the product itself. No doubt they do feel my review was inappropriate given I was warning people about a design fault. I will try again!

Try not calling it a design fault when you have no evidence of that, it's basically a libellous allegation. A faulty lid mechanism on a single item is due to damage or perhaps a fault in manufacturing. If it was a design fault the problem would affect most or all units in the series.

Nice looking kettle, but doesn't have an external water volume gauge. Not a major issue though, as there's a max fill line inside. Only issue is, when kettle is boiled, steam leaks out from under the handle where the on/off switch is which is dangerous

What they REALLY mean is "Only positive review comments are allowed". There was nothing in your review that breached that term of review posting. :rotfl:

Well I'm now the proud owner of this:

    http://www.go-electrical.co.uk/bosch-twk86103gb-styline-sensor-kettle-in-gloss-black.html

    3 times the price!

Must say the service from the site is excellent. Delivery was within a one hour slot.

My old kettle lasted 8 years and cost £40 from John Lewis. I hope this one lasts as long.
