Just warning people on safety issues re: this kettle.

After only 2 days the lid would open only intermittedly and when it was near boiling/boiling the lid popped up on it's own accord. And it continue to boil.
It might have been a one off but I was horrified.
Took it back to my local store for a refund and asked that it be taken up with head office.
Normally electrical stuff from Asda is excellent, but be warned about this kettle.

All kettles will continue to boil if the lid is open as the fact that the steam/vapour can escape defeats the auto cut-out.
Which makes it doubly important that the lid mechanism is reliable. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
I bought a different model, but another of Asda's own brand. This one http://direct.asda.com/ASDA-1.5L-Kettle---Black/001571442,default,pd.html?utm_source=mweb&utm_medium=ad&utm_term=def&utm_content=footer&utm_campaign=internal&cm_mmc=internal-ad-_-mweb-_-footer-_-def
When using it shortly after boiling, steam comes out from under the handle and burns the side of your hand. Caused me to drop the kettle. Very luckily, it landed on its base and so I didn't get covered in boiling water, but a very dangerous feature nonetheless. Took it back the following day, agreed to a replacement. Same thing. Returned and asked it was looked into. Have seen no product changes or recalls since.0 -

I've just tried your link but it directs to their home page.
Well after reading your post I'm so concerned I've just phoned their head office and directed them to this posting.
Lady said it can take up to 40 days to investigate.
I feel very strongly about this issue as a person could be very seriously scolded.0 -
You mean scalded. I can't see a kettle berating someone.0

I've edited my post and the link should hopefully work now0 -
Thanks for that. A tenner. And look at all the positive reviews!
My first review got rejected.
I will update if I hear anything further from Asda. If not I will scold them!!! LOL
I would suspect Asda won't take this second complaint that seriously. The kettle looks popular with good reviews and all you are doing is drawing them to the attention of a review on a forum by an anonymous poster.
They are not going to do a proper investigation into a product based on this! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Fairly good point. I read the reviews in the above link and if many people have got on fine with it then it doesn't mean it's got a design fault and needs to be withdrawn because 1 person wants it to!
I last week bought the blue version of the kettle in the op and have had no problems with it.0 -
It may be worth noting that Asda reviews are usually checked before posting. I've never had a positive review rejected, but negative, factual ones have always been given the boot. Funny, that. I now take any reviews on a company's own site with a pinch of salt. Especially where their own brand products are involved.0
